  • i though japanese ppl loved jamaicans?

  • i am jamaican but also 1/4 japanese, i have always been apprehensive of going to japan because i felt that i would be discriminated worse than i am in the us, even though i am japanese

  • if you look browm or even darker you will experience it. because japan is know for being very ignorant toward outsiders.

they don't see diversity in japan like you may see it in the states. i think you will get stares nothing beyond that.

i sure as hell did on a trip with friends

  • it is true racism is everywhere, it can be lessened by learning the culture in which you will be visiting, and respect it.

  • I agree, this is one way hence the fact that we did not experience any. Where we lived, acceptance was on both sides of the culture coin we were the only Jamaicans in the city!!!

  • also that JPN woman looks fine, sorry but I just had to throw that one in there

  • LOL mum saying get back, you had your turn already

  • well to be honesty ive never seen a colored peson in a japanese classroom

  • I thought Japanese were really racist but from what I've read it seems like you had no problems. I might just try to go there sometime. Btw the way I'm a Jamaican from Portland exiled in NY :).

  • Hi, you get racist people everywhere, an unfortunate fact of life. However, while we were in Japan, we did not encounter racism or discrimination. I am not saying it does not exist, for two years we did not experience any. If you go, represent our people well. Take care, GJ

I'm a Trini and have been to Jpn 2x. With the exceptions of the little old ladies (who scare EVERYBODY) I had no problems :)

  • They will still love you! If there is discrimination in Japan, we did not encounter any in the 2 years we were there!

  • WAY LATE BUT THNX FOR THE ADVICE

  • only 2 years? i know they dont grant citizenship to non japanese. does this mean you can only be a resident?

  • @hellokiko69 They do grant citizenship if you've been there for like 10 to 15 years, i cant remember how long exactly. China is the place that doesn't grant citizenship at all, although you can reside there for as long as you like.

  • @thesims2man

You might have to give up your current citizenship in order to take on Japanese citizenship.

  • oh thats nice did it like take u weeks or soo to get there they say it takes like 1 week...im scared to get on a plane! but thanks for answering my question:)

  • We left Jamaica, then stopped over in London for 5 days. The usual travel time from the US or Canada is approx 11 - 13 hours.

They also had Japanese classes and Japanese culture classes at their International School. The Japanese were very hospitable and welcoming even tried to claim my kids as their own too! LOL
