I know Cretak wasn't totally innocent, but the point the fact that she tried to take over a Bajoran moon isn't what made Section 31 ruin her. They ruined her because she was expedient. I don't think the Alpha Quadrant would have fallen if Section 31 hadn't done what they had. There was no necessary to their evil.

BUT, giving the cure to the Founders helped end the war. I don't like the idea of Section 31, but they did help end the war. Creating the virus and giving the cure is kind of like dropping the bomb on Japan. Both actions saved countless lives.

He cured her before she surrendered. And if Section 31 had had their way Odo wouldn't have had the cure and the Dominion would've fought to the last man. Then what would've happened to all the people in the Gamma Quadrant when the Founders all died and the Jem'Hadar ran wild in the Gamma Quadrant? After Odo cured the female Founder she didn't HAVE to order the surrender. She did it because she saw Odo's trust for "solids" in their Link.

Starfleet had safeguards against Changeling infiltration. We didn't hear about any Changelings who were discovered because they were sick. We heard about Cardassian double agents though, and defecting Weyouns.

Starfleet tests were useless against skilled changelings.

when the changelings started to get sick they started having trouble with their shape shifting and had to abandone their infiltration missions and escape to Cardassian space. most of them probably died since changing shape accelerates the disease. (only the main founder stayed alive because she didn't change shape as often as the others who worked as spies. she was mostly just sitting around in the command center)

The point is, Section 31 had no right to do some of the things they did. Senator Cretak may have been a bit of a bitch some time, but she didn't deserve to have her life ruined just to make extra sure the Romulans stayed in the war. When it comes down to it, the Federation won the war because of superior tactics and planning, and the numbers that came with their allies. And infiltration had nothing to do with it. The Dominion knew they were coming when they attacked Chin'toka.

Also, the female Changeling didn't surrender because Odo cured her with the Link. She surrendered because Odo CONVINCED her with the Link. It had to do with Odo's growth since they first Linked.

I don't like Section 31. I'm NOT a Bible thumper but I do believe "Do unto others as you'd have done to you." I don't think the Federation would appreciate having one of their people set up to make sure they stayed in a war, or having one of their people sacrificed to make sure they were put in the war. And Section 31 infected Odo with this virus before the war even started, and they were willing to let him die, even though he stood AGAINST his people with the Federation.

Another thing I loved about DS9 was how all the characters grew over the years.Like how Damar when from an evil second in command kiss up to the bad guys into a hero leading the fight against the Founders.

Bashir and the way he liked to run around on his high horse preaching morals got on my nerves during the war seasons.War is never nice and is an ugly thing and some times you have to get your hands dirty to survive,aka Sisko and how he got the Romulans into the war.The Founders made no qualms that they'd like nothing more than to either kill off or enslave everyone in the galaxy and they had the power to do it.So if killing all of them off kept me out of slavery than I say go for it Section 31

For the record I don't think Ross' actions were any worse than Sisko's. Both made alliances with questionable people (Garak, Sloan) and sacrificed a Romulan senator for the sake of bringing the Romulans into the war or keeping them in the war.
