The big problem is that this is Chris's livelihood. This is what he does for a living. If the (unwarranted) rant from this guy on a forum somewhere keeps Chris from selling even 1 box of cards then it has effected his livelihood. Chris does a great job at protecting the integrity of the cards, and the hobby as well. I for one appreciate watching his videos and think he does an excellent job!

Most hobby shops work on a 30% to 40% mark up on sports cards, so if you are going to collect for fun it is best to shop around for the best deals. You can't let the fact that you like a certain person, blind you from your sense of perception. I like Target, but I do most of my shopping in Wal Mart.... because they are cheaper. Same thing goes for sports cards, shop around for the cheapest prices.
@chri5784 I was simply telling the guy that you make good money off the boxes the buy, so it is in your best interest to handle the cards with care. Which in all honesty, I see nothing wrong with the way you handle the cards. 1985 Topps Mark McGwire rookies were selling for 5k, 10k, 25k, and yes even 50k in PSA Gem condition directly after he broke the HR record. Now you can pick them up for SOOOOO MUCH LESS...... This is why sports cards aren't a true investment, but actually a sucker bet. The only one who will ever make money off of these sports card you guys are buying is the card company and the person selling the cards ( in this case The Hobby Box ).
Sports cards are an illusion of an investment. When I say sports cards I don't mean vintage cards. I am speaking of this garbage they are putting out today. I love how everyone is chasing that top rookie, spending hundreds, if not thousands of dollars getting that tuff to find rookie patch. Anyone remember JaMarcus Russell? One of his rookies once sold for 2100.00...that same card now is worth 75.00..... This is why sports cards are a bad investment.

Another reason why I say sports cards are a horrible investment is the companies that produce these cards just pump them out as fast as they can. It use to be all ON CARD AUTOGRAPHS, but now you have the dreaded sticker autograph. I was just reading an article about how these card companies are well aware that after 10 years to 15 years, these stickers will start falling off the cards and wilting up. It is all about the card company and NEVER about the customer!
I don't see why condition is super important anyway. New sports cards are simply a fad. For instance, Stephen Strasburg cards that were selling for several thousand a year or so ago are now selling for 1 or 2 hundred bucks now. People argue me all the time, but I can assure you that NEW SPORTS CARDS FROM 2000 up to now are one of the most horrible investments ever. You can never profit over an extended amount of time. Do it for fun, or don't do it at all...

If the (unwarranted) rant from this guy on a forum somewhere keeps Chris from selling even 1 box of cards then it has effected his livelihood. Chris does a great job at protecting the integrity of the cards, and the hobby as well. I for one appreciate watching his videos and think he does an excellent job!

If I get a Brett Favre autograph out of a pack and it has a badly bent corner, it won't upset me at all........because I am just a fan of Brett Favre and would never sell the cards, but some people are VERY VERY VERY picky about how their cards are handled. I say more power to them..... I am not agreeing with the guy by any means, but he can share his POV

Most hobby shops work on a 30% to 40% mark up on sports cards, so if you are going to collect for fun it is best to shop around for the best deals. You can't let the fact that you like a certain person, blind you from your sense of perception. I like Target, but I do most of my shopping in Wal Mart.... because they are cheaper. Same thing goes for sports cards, shop around for the cheapest prices.

Which in all honesty, I see nothing wrong with the way you handle the cards. I just think alot of these people think you are doing this strictly for fun but the fact is you make some serious money off of their cardboard addiction =)

1985 Topps Mark McGwire rookies were selling for 5k, 10k, 25k, and yes even 50k in PSA Gem condition directly after he broke the HR record. Now you can pick them up for SOOOOO MUCH LESS...... This is why sports cards aren't a true investment, but actually a sucker bet. The only one who will ever make money off of these sports card you guys are buying is the card company and the person selling the cards ( in this case The Hobby Box ).

Sports cards are an illusion of an investment. When I say sports cards I don't mean vintage cards. I am speaking of this garbage they are putting out today. I love how everyone is chasing that top rookie, spending hundreds, if not thousands of dollars getting that tuff to find rookie patch. Anyone remember JaMarcus Russell? One of his rookies once sold for 2100.00...that same card now is worth 75.00..... This is why sports cards are a bad investment.

Another reason why I say sports cards are a horrible investment compared to other things out there. There are many who buy sports cards by the case. There are many who spend thousands a year on sports cards. Not to many years ago you could buy silver for 7 dollars an ounce. Imagine if you would had bought 3000 dollars worth of silver eagles instead of 3000 worth of sports cards. Silver topped out at 50 an ounce and your 3000 would have been worth nearly 25,000 dollars.

Another reason why I say sports cards are a horrible investment is the companies that produce these cards just pump them out as fast as they can. It use to be all ON CARD AUTOGRAPHS, but now you have the dreaded sticker autograph. I was just reading an article about how these card companies are well aware that after 10 years to 15 years, these stickers will start falling off the cards and wilting up. It is all about the card company and NEVER about the customer!

I don't see why condition is super important anyway. New sports cards are simply a fad. For instance, Stephen Strasburg cards that were selling for several thousand a year or so ago are now selling for 1 or 2 hundred bucks now. People argue me all the time, but I can assure you that NEW SPORTS CARDS FROM 2000 up to now are one of the most horrible investments ever. You can never profit over an extended amount of time. Do it for fun, or don't do it at all...

Then was pulled from their product and resold again for $22,500.00.
