This show would "spawn" 3 future Tony Winners: Michael Cerveris (Assassins), and ensemble cast members Christian Hoff (Jersey Boys) and Alice Ripley (Next to Normal).
This brings back memories. My daughter, laura Allen, was in the London premier of this show (February 1996 ... she's 20 now, and still chasing a career in theatre) ... identical to the Broadway version. She was 6 years old and played Tommy aged 4. Kim Wilde played her mother. Pete Townshend and Des Macnuff were really nice guys. It was a fun and weird few months for all of us. Thanks for posting this.
I got to meet Buddy Smith and Michael Cerveris and Anthony Barille plus lots of the original cast when I saw Tommy. I saw the show 3 times and got lots of autographs. It was the BEST SHOW ever. Sadly didn't get Buddy's autograph because he was doing donation duty and they didn't let him give autographs while trying to get donations for ACT Up/Equity fights AIDS but I did get the Zeidman kids (Nicole and Michael) autographs on my 3rd visit and went backstage courtesy of their lovely father Andy.
The other half is too long to post. I have to trim it one of these days. Kepp checking back as I have a TON of other stuff just waiting to get edited. Like a bunch from "Dance of the Vampires"!
