No doubt, this was SRV at his absolute best. High or not, he was on, on, on. I am not able to predict the future, though I can say with certainty that there will never EVER be another SRV. There will be imitators, but none can fill those humble, incredible shoes that he wore. He was a true virtuoso.
I recall the very moment in time, in vivid detail, when I heard that he lost his life. I sat in dumbfounded dismay and wept for some time. RIP SRV.
That voice at 1:32 is haunting......to think that he was shy about his singing for a long time.......Man I miss him. The connection was so strong.....someone that played like I felt. RIP
That voice at 1:32 is haunting......to think that he was shy about his singing for a long time.......Man I miss him. The connection was so strong.....someone that plyed like I felt. RIP
This may be the best live song I have ever heard SRV do and I have many bootlegs. He was good that night. Do you have other recordings from this same night? His tone was killer.
Turned 43 today. Treated myself to this video. Picked up a guitar for the first time 31 years ago today. The callouses that thing has left on my fingers and heart have somehow improved my hearing. When I listen to Stevie play TPA, more than any other song or performer, I know I am hearing echos from the absolute depth of human emotion. Haunting. Almost frightening. There will never be another Stevie, and will never hear these sounds again.
thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing this video. Once in a lifetime someone comes along with such incredible ability and talent. Missed him every day hes been gone.
this is so f*#@*n great what a WAIST!!!!!!! it would have been to NOT share this. To have kept it all to urself. Imagine how much material there probably is stiil outthere, somewhere, held rigidly possesive to themself. To dissappear when the greedy owner dies, never to be heard again. That's not only horrible or lame; IT'S A CRIME!!!! repulsive....
Owner of the Texas Tornado Jam 1981 and the South Texas Tornado Jam Videos 1981 sent me rude message saying I was trying to profit etc from HIS video.
I told this guy to go pound sand and saying he owns anythign that is SRV is comical at best. Youtube eventually made me take it down due to copyright stuff. Some people can't let go of the 80's.:)
Yeah I put a copy of that concert on here too and it was taken down also. I also put up life Without you from the MTV unplugged session and that was taken down too. Most people have never seen that clip

Sir,
I request that you remove the two SRV Texas Tornado Jam 1981 videos you have posted. You are not authorized to post this content as it does not belong to you.You are not authorized to share or sell these 1981 videos. You tube has been notified of the copyright infringement but I wish to give you the chance to remove them before they do it for you.
What is the point of removing them jrichie66. Nobody cares except you we do this stuff because we love the music. We are not making a profit and I have personally spent years sharing my videos with people for free. You can not stop people from sharing content I can easily burn this on DvD and send them to people like always. We would you want to keep a few videos from ever being seen on youtube? Because you put together a show which Stevie happened to grace your stage with. Lame
With your line of thought, you bought stock in a company and then find that that stock is being given away for free.
Your investment is worthless. The event was put together by Joe Ely and sold. Your are giving away stolen property which you did not pay for making the investment worthless. Which is Lame on your part.
Are you kidding me? Why would you defend a record company's right to own SRV's work? It is for everyone who love's his music as he loved us and gave us such beautiful blues music. His music is for the public.
Isn't it ridiculous for a person to say.. "oh well I recorded this so I deserve some profit"... give me a break! That is the problem with music today... It isn't the artist, right.. it is about the bottom line... F*** that!!!! It is about the ARTIST, IT IS ABOUT THE MUSIC.. This man knew that... he could care less who had rights to his music... he wanted it to be heard. He is a true blues musician... it isn't about profit... it is about music... WAKE UP!!!!
There is no real point to a response. Kialen055 has removed original post and the response that he does not approve of. The record company does not own this recording nor any of SRVs music. I own the Texas Tornado Jam 1981 Series including this video. The SRV estate owns the rest. If you knew the story behind this video and the Jam series you would agree with the request to remove this and all other Jam videos owned by The Richies
I understand making the investment you made. You wan't to get a return on your investment. It is how things work. But why invest in something like this that people will get any way they can easily without having to go through some obscure way to obtain it? Are these videos and songs available easily in the market? No, not that I'm aware of... I wish all this stuff would be released for the public to enjoy. I would happily pay for it
Oh my God!!1That is sick! This is by far the best I've ever seen from SRV. Simply amazing!!
