The trailer makes it look like its really uplifting and happy, because they take several words out of context. While I can see the meaning in this film and really appriciate it for what it is, It does have a good message, I would not recommend watching it unless your prepare to be severely depressed over its meaning for the next couple days :/.
@MajorHarvestMoonFan If I watched "Grave of the fireflies", I can watch this. And I am glad this is not another of those movies presenting having Asperger's like something funny. It is not funny or uplifting.
@IlkaZapata I didn't say you should represent aspergers syndrome as funny and uplifting. This movie's only theme is not aspergers, while it is an important part of the character "max" and they do try to represent it , the entire theme of the movie itself, the message, is a really sad one. And i'm only letting people know it's something you should only watch if you don't mind having something rather heavy on your mind for quite some time.
@MajorHarvestMoonFan "Grave of the fireflies" is a movie from Studio Ghibli (Japan). It is the studio founded by Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata. Did you ever watch "Spirited away"? Well, the co-founder is the guy who directed that movie. "Grave of the fireflies" is one of the saddest movies I have ever seen. It is also a wonderful movie. You should watch it. But it will leave you depressed for days.
@IlkaZapata Thats a studio ghibli film?? I thought I'd heard of just about everything from them. I love Miyizaki and Takahata's work. Now I've really got to see it, I had never heard of it.
@MajorHarvestMoonFan Yes, it is a Studio Ghibli film. I watched the trailer while watching my copy of "My neighbor Totoro". But it is a very old film (1988), maybe that's why you never heard about it. It's a very good film. Roger Ebert included it on his Great Movies list. I also love Miyazaki and Ghibli. We are trying to get all their movies. Currently we have 12.
@IlkaZapata Oh wow, well i wish you luck with that, if you ask me Miyizaki films are worth a lot more then most of the mainstream anime people preach about, (I know using the word mainstream makes me sound like a hipster but.. well they are). your comment made me look it up, i think i'll have to see it.
I knew that one guy was eric banna, (because he was on the incredible hulk and he sounded like him and i just knew it was him) but i liked his stuff in this and i liked this movie it was funny, happy, and very sad at the same time.
