Their carnivorous laughs are like that of predators tasting the blood almost already on their tongues and recognizing one of their own. But Michael is a Wolf pack leader, he kills alone and provides the death coup for the meat.
Michael just came back from the war as a decorated veteran, where he probably seen more blood and guts then everyone in the room combined, and yet they're all laughing at him,this has to be the dumbest scene in the movie
@johpor59 i think they did their best to cover this by saying 'this isnt the army where you shoot them a mile away...' pay more attention. one of the best films ever, and such a slimy turdball remark, he was meant to be everything his father wasnt, as opposed to a Don, he was to be a lawyer, or a solicitor, something LEGITIMATE. This little scene is the beginning of Don Michael Corleone and you call it dumb. kekface
Amazing transition to the dark side. Horrible make up job in this scene....way overdone...and then in the scene where he does kill them, you can't see a thing.
@leafyutube My point was that there was not enough time between the 2 events for his face to change that much, and that the makeup job itself looks bad to me. Who said he had a broken jaw?
In the book, Mike says that everything is personal. By the way, he does what Sonny says about whacking McKlusky and Sollozzo, not what his orders from Clemenza are.
The line where he says "Its not personal, Its strictly business" has to be one of the greatest lines ever, in that moment Al Pacino is so convincing.

@johpor59 they were laughing at him because he was against everything they were doing and being that he was the youngest.

@oldpreach
Make-up over done? Apparently you've never seen someone with a broken jaw.
You're also wrong about the scene where he kills them. In fact, the scene is absolutely perfect.

In the movie, it's mentioned by Tom that Mike's jaw was broken by McCloskey.

Pacino apparently forgot to take out his retainer before the filming of this scene
