I received all of my education, up through my high school graduation, as a homeschooler. I have plenty of friends, I met them in so many different ways, it's just awesome. I had plenty of tests and other school work and duh it all got graded. I could pretty much do all of my schoolwork however I wanted whenever I wanted and guess what? I graduated, the state gave me a diploma and now I'm a sophomore in my first year of college. SO yes you can definitely go to college and you can excel.

Enjoyed 12 years of Homeschooling. Had an advantage though; my mom was a teacher before she had me (and my sisters), so any questions I had, I could take to her. One of the HUGE advantages was since GA only requires 4.5 hours of school per day (as long as the is complete!), I had the rest of my day to practice my trumpet for competitions (All-state, GACS, AACS, etc), and I was able to participate in the Metropolitan Youth Wind Ensemble, perform in Carnegie Hall, NY, and much more!

I was public schooled. It seems like home has big positives and negatives. Like a DVD could be a more optimized class lecture than reality; but I'd be wary replacing school interaction with TV watching.
My annoying question would be how much time was spent on education versus religion. My picture is it is heavy on religion and I wonder about the time toll on secular education.
I'm in 9th grade & I've been homeschooled my whole life & I do it by Computer program & you have to read the Lesson then answer questions & then u get graded. :] but I also have tests, am not socially challenged, & I'm also in a homeschooling thing that have dances & ect so I can go to those.

@SeaofSt0rm The funny thing about public school is that they never tell you why homework is actually important. Basically you're just made to do what you're told and so many of the kids just won't take it seriously. We basically see it as punishment and well no one likes that. We really don't figure it out what homework is for until we're way older and by then we wish we had homeschooling. :]

@MissShadowheart101 Actually the school board in my state said that P.E. is mandatory for homeschoolers, especially those of us in high school. So I've been doing P.E. (going to the Y with my mom) everyday during the entire school year. Not just for one semester.
They dont need it. Homeschoolers have time to join dance teams, be on sports teams, take recreational sports etc. I have friends who kids take 5 hours of dance a week, a couple who are into gymnastics, marathon running, martial arts, etc. All of this on a regular basis through the summer & holiday months.

@Paikai111 I'm in 9th grade now and an agoraphobic, so I went on it. I'm an introverted person, and this was a great move for me. It's 5 hours a week, so I have so much time to do what I could never do in normal school. I have a passion for writing and filmmaking, so it has given me the time to write and make videos. I could never do that before because I was bogged down with so much homework and I never got the help with understanding I get with homeschooling. I also find school to be dull.
@Paikai111 I was also in a private Christian school which opressed a lot, and it not only made me an atheist, it also gave me a real lust for freedom and independence. I hated the way they stifled free speech and censored us, and now in high school you are much more free, so that helps :)
I'm homeschooled, and I'm NOT socially deprived! I have a lot of friends and meet a lot of people, I get bugged by that questions too! I meet friends at church, Soccer, Ballet, Art class, Summer camps, special homeschooled classes in highschool and a Horse group I'm in! :) so really I meet just as much people as anyone ells! @NemesisSypheroth i was homeschooled till 9th grade and trust me you get sick of the school faster then your house. public school is the same thing everyday. nothing ever changes. sure you get new classes that are fun for about a week in the fall every year but over all your going to get bored. plus your going in as a homeschooler and that always adds to it. but i say try public school, you might like it and the experance is good. just make sure you can get out of it before comiting to 4 years!
@alm1223 yeah all my other homeschool friends are telling me to go in when i get to 12th grade but i think im going to do 11th and 12th because my older sister just went in for 12th grade and they made her do 11th to make up credits and shes still going actually (just went into 12th and she has to make up credits in 3 different classes) so im definitely not doing 4+ years lol

As a prior homeschooler, the only thing I find annoying about this is the fact that she feels the need to address such stupid questions to begin with. She is attending school, obviously she could prove such to the proper authorities or her family would have been in trouble long ago...so why is it anybody's business when and where she eats or if she does her homework in her pj's? Or (my own personal favorite when growing up) if she has a social life?

I was homeschooled k-12 and it was pretty good in many ways. What i just hated about it was that it was so damn boring and i don't think it really helped me as much socially as a regular school would have, i guess it depends on the person. I think it's good 4 sum ppl and bad 4 others, especially those who become ultra conservative and dress like country bumpkins, so retarded. Also, i don't know y most ppl think homeschoolers r smarter, i feel just as smart as everyone i've met at college.

I'm home schooled and yes I get those questions. & when they ask about prom yeah you can some home schooling schools have them. Sorry that might have come out all confusing. I rather be home schooled cause i don't have to worry about drama and the whole cussing atmosphere. It's just annoying.

People don't understand that when they are stuck in school or at work, us homeschoolers are out hanging with friends, shopping, going out with friends, making new friends, going to all of our extracurricular activities (if you don't know what that means you must not be homeschooled..), going to our jobs that only homeschoolers can have because they are during the time you are at school.(haha) us homeschooled people are much MORE active and social actually because we are always meeting NEW peopl

I was public schooled. It seems like home has big positives and negatives. Like a DVD could be a more optimized class lecture than reality; but I'd be wary replacing school interaction with TV watching.
My annoying question would be how much time was spent on education versus religion. My picture is it is heavy on religion and I wonder about the time toll on secular education.

Basically you're just made to do what you're told and so many of the kids just won't take it seriously. We basically see it as punishment and well no one likes that. We really don't figure it out what homework is for until we're way older and by then we wish we had homeschooling. :]

I have a home school question What about Gym :/ Do you jog a mile a day and do 10 push ups 100 jumping jacks and 10 sit ups :u and play sports, do you go outside often or stay in the house practicing martial arts and watch Youtube while studying about Scientific things and culture and more history? do you have art or technology class?

They dont need it. Homeschoolers have time to join dance teams, be on sports teams, take recreational sports etc. I have friends who kids take 5 hours of dance a week, a couple who are into gymnastics, marathon running, martial arts, etc. All of this on a regular basis through the summer & holiday months.

@Paikai111 I'm in 9th grade now and an agoraphobic, so I went on it. I'm an introverted person, and this was a great move for me. It's 5 hours a week, so I have so much time to do what I could never do in normal school. I have a passion for writing and filmmaking, so it has given me the time to write and make videos. I could never do that before because I was bogged down with so much homework and I never got the help with understanding I get with homeschooling. I also find school to be dull.

@Paikai111 I was also in a private Christian school which opressed a lot, and it not only made me an atheist, it also gave me a real lust for freedom and independence. I hated the way they stifled free speech and censored us, and now in high school you are much more free, so that helps :)

I'm homeschooled, and I'm NOT socially deprived! I have a lot of friends and meet a lot of people, I get bugged by that questions too! I meet friends at church, Soccer, Ballet, Art class, Summer camps, special homeschooled classes in highschool and a Horse group I'm in! :) so really I meet just as much people as anyone ells! I'm Homeschooled and I'm PROUD OF IT!!! :D

@NemesisSypheroth i was homeschooled till 9th grade and trust me you get sick of the school faster then your house. public school is the same thing everyday. nothing ever changes. sure you get new classes that are fun for about a week in the fall every year but over all your going to get bored. plus your going in as a homeschooler and that always adds to it. but i say try public school, you might like it and the experance is good. just make sure you can get out of it before comiting to 4 years!

As a prior homeschooler, the only thing I find annoying about this is the fact that she feels the need to address such stupid questions to begin with. She is attending school, obviously she could prove such to the proper authorities or her family would have been in trouble long ago...so why is it anybody's business when and where she eats or if she does her homework in her pj's? I was homeschooled k-12 and it was pretty good in many ways. What i just hated about it was that it was so damn boring and i don't think it really helped me as much socially as a regular school would have, i guess it depends on the person. I think it's good 4 sum ppl and bad 4 others, especially those who become ultra conservative and dress like country bumpkins, so retarded. Also, i don't know y most ppl think homeschoolers r smarter, i feel just as smart as everyone i've met at college.
