actualy, your missing a couple of points! for compleatly all of the points, you need the 99 lives thingy, and the power ups at start! (as in, you have them, but didnt touch a power up to get them)
almost to true, this game cannot be overated its that good evev with the genesis it's minors, wtf i don't see minors here, only thing i see is this blowing almost any 16bit machine out of the water, the sega cd could do fatalitys on any 16 bit console with clever programmed games,it has freakin good scaling and 3d options.
Everything about this games drips class, the detailed graphics, the rocking tunes, the rock hard yet fun gampeplay. You can tell they worked their asses of at Techosoft to really show what the Megadrive could do and also to show how talented they are as a games company. I have lost count of the amount of times I have played this epic game. I am also glad to see people on here who love it as much as I do, nice one guys and girls!
ha to think i was just 12 years old when I played this, so long ago now, its almost like it was just a dream, I guess thats what life is, great game though and damn i still remember the ending exactly how it was, i hear TF6 is really good, Im going to check it out, although i dont play games much anymore, i bet my skills are crap now
damn right, thunder force IV, probably my favourite sega game ever. and i haven't played V yet cos i don't own the genesis! maybe i'll have to get one off ebay if it's any good...
It's a points bonus awarded at the end of the game if you make it all the way through without losing any lives. I did TF3 on Mania level with a No Miss Bonus, and TF4 on Normal level with a No Miss Bonus. Never managed TF4 on Hard or Mania though unless I used continues.
It's funny how when people mention playing their old Megadrive games this one ALWAYS crops up as a fave. It is simply IMO the best scrolling shooter ever made and still is. Love this little gem. Still havent played TF5 or TF6, I bet they cant live up to the level this game set anyway lol.
I have played this game when I was a kid. Seeing you play through the entire game is like reuniting with a long lost friend. It certainly brings a tear to my eye.
Totally agree, this blew my mind out when I first played back in the early 90's. I borrowed it of a mate and kept it for the best part of 4 months and played it over and over.
i remember playing this when i was a kid. I only remembered the last stage though and the ending credits. I think the reason why I kept beating this game was to see the way ending picture.
That is the orbiting satelite from Thunderforce V that discovers Vasteel near pluto. It's only a guess but It makes sense if you look at the TFV intro movie.
definitely best serie and music ever; Stand up against myself rocks everything that exists in video games music ^^
By the way why don't you use over weapon on th last attack of the last boss ? just befor he spreads the balls through the screens ? end finish the one that's still here with hunter instead of just using hunters ? he should die even quicker no ? As far as I remember this the way I played it in that difficulty. nice play though ^^
Sweet graphics and some of the best sounds and music in a game ever. Fuck it, THE best scrolling shoot em up EVER!
Only complaint is the slow down you get when loads of shit is going on but hey, its the megadrive and how they acheived this game on that is just genius!
This really did push the megadrive to its limits. Scary thing is, as powerful as the SNES was it had a much slower clock speed than the megadrive so the slowdown would have been worse.
This is still one of my fave games ever. This, Dynamite Headdy and Gunstar Heroes have all stood the test of time. I was 9 when it was released and still play it now. Ah, they don't make 'em like they used to.
Yeah I agree one of the best looking and sounding games on the megadrive ever. I didnt know the SNES had a slower clock, I assumed it was faster as it had more modern tech inside it. Gunstar is genius but I never got to play Dynamite Headdy. Yup, games like this are pretty much history.
Ah dude, if you ever get the chance to play Dynamite Headdy don't pass it up. It's pretty messed up but SO innovative. I prefer it to Super Mario World
I play my retro collection far more than my xbox 360. Too much flash over gameplay these days. Man, do I sound old and bitter or what? lol
Hopefully they will start adding all these old games to xbox live for us all to replay/cherish/obsess over haha. Will check out the head mate. I play my retro games loads too. No you dont sound old or bitter lol I agree with you...hang on does that me sound old and bitter?! lol. I agree with you, flash graphics only go so far.
I agree as well. It's innovation like this that progresses the video games into what they are now. But I just wish they would continue to make new ideas and not push all these FPS's and stuff down people's throats. I'm with you guys and if you sound old and bitter, then I'm old and bitter too.
Sweet sweet game...

Final boss looks a little weird, and comes on the screen in a lame way IMO. But still a great game and easily the best SHUMP on the Genesis.
ShadowWolf3998 2 years ago
great game and the best music, particularly the awesome staff credits music, such a perfect tune for a good triumphing over evil scenario!

A bit of trivia: the final boss of this game bears a strong resemblence to the final boss of Blast Wind, another Technosoft game.

This is not from the Sega CD.
Everything is done through programming on the regular old 7.3 Mhz Motorola on the MD.
This game is a work of art ;)
