  • Plastic bowls are the cause of feline acne. After switching to glass bowls our cat no longer has acne or blackheads.

  • USE METAL OR PORCELAIN CAT FOOD BOWLS TO REDUCE OR ELIMINATE CAT ACNE

  • @wrighthobbies USE YOUR KEYBOARD TO TURN OFF YOUR CAPS LOCK

    shit

  • If you only use stainless steel dishes this would diminish considerably.

  • This is sometimes from eating out of plastic dishes. Should use stainless steel or ceramic.

  • @lulugemini Fleas don't hang out on the chin only - if it were flea dirt he'd have it all over his neck. They're zits. Ask your vet and they can explain.

  • Your cat is AWESOME! He's all like, "Yep, on my back, ohhh scratch a little lower on my jaw, thank you" so cool I want a rag doll cat now. My Maine Coon is a sweet boy who lets us manipulate him pretty well too, but he's still a Coon cat and likes to rough house.

  • @recita1717 He's my mom's cat - but he is awesome. I wish he was mine - he is a gift to the soul. Maine Coons are cool too. I have a website all about Ragdoll cats - you can check it out - there's a link to it in the description of this video. There's a new post on it almost every day. I'd write the website address here but YouTube doesn't allow it.

  • @steiff1001 I love rag dolls so I'm gonna check out your site. I don't have one (I wish) but my old cat, Felix, (RIP) sure acted like one. He was the most affectionate cat I've ever known. He loved lying on my lap on his back his head just under my chin getting his tummy rubbed. He always looked so funny coz his hind legs would be spread out wide to the sides and he would sit like that for hours if you'd let him lol. And he never, ever stopped purring.

  • @kkly27 Sorry about your Felix!! Did you have a chance to check out my site? What did you think? My Charlie sounds like your Felix - you can look for Charlie's videos under my channel or even by searching Ragdoll cat and Charlie.

  • @Cyperspiller the black things are the remainders of scabs that the cat has scrathed at. the zits are inside...and they can get NASTY

  • @angeleyes18265 no thats cat acne..i know its so weird...but my cat has it. she said those black specs where the zits but they weren't. they were the remains of the scabbs from other zits that the cat scratches at. the acne can get real bad. its so gross because you have to push the puss out and its kind of painful for your cat.

  • My cat is a ragroll/persian and he gets these really badly. i use a head lice comb to get them out and then I usually wrangle him into a position where i can use warm water and antibactereal soap to give it a good clean.

He does not enjoy it but he usually endures

  • @MYEYESBLEED All very good to know. I feel like they are seasonal too. Sometimes Caymus has none!

  • My cat has acne too. I clean her chin with soap and an old toothbrush. It works wonders as long as I keep up with it. If I don't, oh man, they get nasty and HUGE! FYI, antibacterial soap and a soft toothbrush really does the trick, just keep it out of their mouths. :)

  • was that cat sedated?

  • that comment made me laugh out loud, and made my mom laugh, my dad and my sister when i told them about it. caymus is usually in the constant state of sedation. he is a ragdoll, after all. he is one hell of a cat. you can do ANYTHING to him and he will be a good patient . the vet loves how relaxed he is. the only thing that really pisses him off is my parents' 4-year old german shepherd.

  • My cat is half ragdoll and half persian. He /hates/ when I try anf clean his face.

He lets me but, he has this mood afterwards like "I hate you soooo much"

  • yes, we are lucky that caymus is such a nice cat that will tolerate anything...

  • A cat I had years ago had the same thing and the vet told me it was feline acne. she suggested using stainless steel bowls, instead of plastic, and eventually the problem went away ... hth.

  • god bless you for knowing that they are zits and not flea poop! some people, i tell you...

  • You're most welcome and give Caymus a scratch behind the ears for me!

  • Yes, I know! I am a homeopathic practioner for animals (I´m in germany) and so many clients come toi me and say "My cat got always flea-poop on its chin", but it´s feline acne. PPDKing above is right, plastic bowls can be one of the reasons, ceramic or stainless steel bowls are better. There is also a homeopathic remedy called "Silicea". I gave it to my cat and it never appreaed again. Thank god, because he was going to develope a bad cyst on his chin, now it´s gone, since 8 months!

  • Yes, we took Caymus to the vet last week, and I asked the vet to explain feline acne to me, so that I could sound intelligent on YouTube when I responded to these people that think it is flea poop, but no such luck. What exactly do you do as a homepathic practioner for animals? And where are you in Germany? Caymus' zits aren't too bad--I mean, they don't cause problems. I just like to pick at them. His brother's zits are worse--but still no white heads, like I have seen on other cats.

  • I´m im Bavaria (the "Beer-State", lol) I´m working with natural, herbal and homeopathic remedies only and do phyisotherapy for horses and dogs after accidents and/or sugeries or if they are suffering under arthrosis. Our office is connected to a "normal" veterinary office and an animal rescue. Glad to hear it´s not that worse, one of my adopted had it badly, as I adopted him he had a big infection on his chin with puss in it, we had to open it :( But now he´s totally ok, never appeared again

  • Caymus is beautiful btw!! :*)

  • he is beautiful, i agree. he is my mom's cat. i have been borrowing him ever since my cat, rags, passed in late march. i will eventually get my own kittens, but for now i am borrowing him.

  • yes, i have been to muchen (sorry for not putting those dots over the "U", not sure how to do that without inserting a symbol or something). i loved bavaria. are you from there as well? i went to the deustch museum in muchen. that was interesting-had a man expose himself there & ended up turning him into the police. i also had to get my blood taken in munich because i had been diagnosed w/ a thyroid disease right before i left. it was an interesting experience in munchen, but i loved it.

  • those are flea eggs!

  • @waughdoll no those black specs where the scab bits and pieces (ewe) but the zits can get really bad.

  • Those aren't zits--that's flea poop!!

  • @LimoBarbie not poop. my cat has zits too.

  • I think he's enjoying that too mcuh XD

  • Lorraine, no, they are zits. Most cats have those black specs like that under their chin like Caymus (at least other cats I've known!). confirmed by vet that they are zits. I've seen a cat with fleas and Caymus doesn't have fleas...or flea poop. Now, if I found these black specs somewhere on his body other than under his chin, then I would be led to believe it is flea poop. Thanks for your concern...

  • Does he eat/drink out of a plastic bowl?

Try using stainless steel and the zits should go away. In the meantime, rub OXY pads on his chin to take care of existing acne ;)

  • wow, that is great about the witch hazel. didnt know that one. murphy, my mom's other cat, has zits a lot worse than caymus. yes, i have heard that about the plastic bowls. i just wash mine every day, so there isnt a problem.

  • My cat had an infected one tonight. I actually popped it! Tomorrow, I'm calling the vet for some feline acne shampoo, I guess. If I can catch them early like you do, maybe I can spare her...

  • yes! they can turn into whiteheads if you aren't careful. let me know what the vet says, i will be curious.

  • The vet said to not use a plastic bowl for food, because the plastic can harbor bacteria. Glass, ceramic or stainless steel bowls are better. She suggested that I clean Bob's chin three times a day with witch hazel. If she doesn't improve in a couple of weeks, I'm bringing her in. I think the cleaning will help, though. I started feeding my cats wet food last month and she really gets her face down in the bowl- and beneath the chin is not an easy place for a cat to clean. : )

  • i thought it was mite dust or something i cat had these, hmm well you learn something everyday

  • no, under the chin it isn't mite dust or flea poop. but if you found it on other areas of their body, it might very well be.

  • I am not sure if they can get there. I have only ever heard about under the chin. I will inquire with my vet!

  • Inquired with my vet...she says if it isnt under the chin, be sure its not flea dirt!

  • Actually, under the chin is feline acne...no kidding.

  • Zits?!?

ooooh i think my cat had some of these, can they get on the bottom of his back too? like the bottom of his tail/top of his bum?
