@janelerss4jayjoe1111 There are many different interpretations..it depends on how you perceive it. For me, the lyrics speak of death..About a man talking to his sweetheart who died...and telling her how much he misses her.
Sadly, this song takes on a whole new meaning since my bride of 29 years died this past 6 November (2011). God Almighty, Lord Creator of all that is good, will this aching, hollow pain never end?... Honey I miss you.
@StudebakerHawk57 I will be praying for you. God will give you relief in HIS time. Just remember if she loved Jesus, and you do too, you will see her again in heaven.

god i love this song sssssssssssoooooooooooo much i can not tell you thank's love deexxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
@60otaku3 I don't recall saying I dislike the song. I was just pointing out that many dislike it because it is sentimental and maudlin, which even those who love the song will struggle to deny.
This one still brings tears my eyes so sad but one of the Best songs written P.S. when I hear it I still think of you Karen so I'll see you on the other side Honey R.I.P.
I've heard some interpret this song as a woman with major depression killing herself. I have always thought that she got a bad prognosis from the doctor, so was crying when her husband got home and she later dies of the illness while she's at home alone. But whichever way you interpret it, it's a beautiful song! And I want to say to all people that admit this song makes them cry, especially men, I applaud you for having real heartfelt feelings and not being afraid to say it!
I remember as a kid how this song always made me stop to listen, no matter what I was doing. I simply dont understand why kids today cannot appreciate songs like these anymore! Thanks for sharing this!

@winscott9601 Oh no, I'm not listening to it.....I'm depressed enough. I just recall the days in 1968 when this horrible, wretched thing first came through my radio speakers. It was painful.
:< My great-grandma passed away five yrs. ago. It was such a devastating tragedy to strike my family... When I was 7 yrs. old on Aug. 16, 2005, I saw her on her death bed... so lifeless when living.. I grabbed a portable whiteboard and wrote, " Grandma, I love you... I'll always remember you right in my heart in that special place I have just for you.." She smiled and said softly," Oh mija.. don't cry. my time has come to go to live with God now... I love mijita..." This song reminds me of her..
Oh so glad to have found this song, very rare for this to be played on the radio nowadays. This song reminds me of my childhood days & the house i grew up in & i know my mom loves this song. Can't describe how this song makes me feel...
Glad i foud this:my nan used to sing it to me when i was small,we thought she made the song up as nobody knew who sang it,now i know who sings it.Fond memories of it,makes me cry still and i'm 20 now.Love you nan <33
