Red did apologize for the forcing white out of the 'ring'. He told he was annoyed because he could not get a point. White was to active to let red make the ippon.
I was waiting for red to finally push the guy out and get the point...either it didn't occur to him or he really wanted to win with a strike, because white was constantly dancing on the edge of a second hansoku. All red needed was a strong strike followed with tai-atari to knock white out after the first hansoku. Looked like a very small court.
