Allegedly the player who submitted the speedrun in the first place thought the Japanese FamiCom version was better in terms of sound quality and game difficulty.
I love the Castlevania series including the first two. But that game is very hard to complete! I thought the first was difficult but the third one prove me wrong! Kudos to you, man. You are a extremely good player!
Just got this on VC. Harder than the first 2 by far. I've only gotten to level 3 with the limited time i've put in, but even with that experience i'm learning the stairs are your biggest enemy in this game.
Didn't know about Castelvania III on NES. Even the Engine seems the same as used in Castelvania I, the game looks much better than Castelvania II (Simons Quest):
@trevormclink They do. You have to stand on them long enough for them to flip, and you have to be on the sides. The last one he stands on long enough, but he's in the middle of it. Compare it to standing on the middle of a seesaw. You won't go up or down either way.
I see that in this version, Grant has throwing daggers as his main weapon whereas in the US version, he's stuck with an inferior stabbing dagger that's only good for close-range attacks.
@roundtr1p This game used an MMC5 on a cartridge that allowed for more RAM and two extra sound sound channel in addition to what the NES had to offer.
@roundtr1p That's because it uses the konami vrc6 chip, and konami's excellent composers, the vrc6 chip game the Japanese Nintendo "Famicom" 2 more square waves, and i saw wave Chanel :D
@Matsute While the Famicom soundtrack is technically superior, I must say, the downgraded NES tunes are actually catchier, because less convoluted. Gotta love both, anyway.
The fleamen don't look like a bunch of angry ground humping old men in the japanese version... why didn't they keep this design in the other castlevanias when they moved to the RPG elements?
Hello cubex55 group: if a game has more than one ending or more than one path through it, will you make videos of each of these paths or not? I can understand if you do not have the patience for all possible paths in every game.
I might Consider doing the alternate paths for the English version :D But as for the endings its hardly any point because its just a different one for each character you end with. I think theres no point playing the game a further 4 times!
Firstborn child for translations on text? Not mine, you understand, but I'll figure something out.

Definitely the best of the NES Castlevania trilogy, and one of my favorite NES games of all time.

In view of Castelvania I:
- Some nice new Textures has been added
- Much better - or say awesome Backgrounds
- Castelvania 1, Level 1 revisited in Level 9 - LOL
- But the Sound fits not the Castelvania I
