Thanks for the kind words on my vid. I realize now that I came off a bit condescending in my posts and I am definitely sorry about that. It was not my intention. For example, I watched your review of 'Devil' and not only do we see eye to eye on that one, but you were more eloquent in your delivery and your explanation of the film itself. I subscribed to see more of your work. At any rate, we disagree on Apollo 18 but that's the beauty of film -- no two people see the same thing. Cheers.
Again, I want to stress that I don't mean your opinion is wrong (that would be ludicrous), but in this particular case I believe you would be better served articulating your points better. Or, even, at all. This is by no means a perfect movie, but your review of it demonstrates a level of intelligence that tells me everything I need to know about the reviewer of the film, and very little about the movie itself. And yes, I've been drinking too.
@a7threvolution I'm sorry, but there is very little to say about the film. It's 90 minutes of poorly shot and edited nonsense, plus moon crabs. As for you claims about my intelligence, I record off the cuff with no preparation, so I'm still gathering my thoughts and just kind of rambling. I know that's not everyone's cup of tea, but I don't think it reveals much about my intelligence. I actually know what the word anachronistic means. I was an English major. I know words and stuff.
I respect your right to an opinion, but you appear incapable of making any coherent arguments. If the film quality were clearer, you would be complaining it was anachronistic. (Finished googling that word? Great, let's continue.) If you accept the movie's premise -- ya know, as is expected of a moviegoer with a brain -- that it's found footage of a secret mission that was hastily compiled by members of a conspiracy website, then your complaints about editing and character development are moot.
@a7threvolution Doesn't change the fact that I'm actually watching a movie, and it should be somewhat coherent and/or entertaining. The editing is terrible in this film, and there is no excuse for that.
Part 2: My top 10 movies of 2011 are 1.Martha Mercy May Marlene, 2.Melancholia, 3.Drive, 4.Take Shelter, 5.Hesher, 6.Super, 7.A Dangerous Method, 8.Red State, 9.We Need To Talk About Kevin 10.Tree of Life. If you liked Tree Of Life you should check out "Enter The Void" by Gaspar Noe'. Which is about what happends to you when you die and how life flashes before your eyes. It's a great movie to eat some shrooms with lol, but it's on netflix instant view if your interested(it's almost 3 hours long)
Part 1: Yeah 2011 was not a good year for horror films. "Cannibal Holocaust(1980)" and "Man Bites Dog(1992)" are the best found footage films that have came out. I thought you might want to know that the arthur of "Drive" is writing a sequel, and that the director Nicolas Winding Refn(Bronson,The Pusher Trilogy,Valhalla Rising) said he would like to direct it also. Good episode of MovieDudes this week(i was kind of disappointed that Chis did not talk about his final thoughts of The Shield).
didn't dislike it in the way you did but I can see why you hate it. My big problems with it are that found footage films generally force tension on the viewer by showing unnatural things happening in familiar locations. Apollo 18 has unnatural things happening in space, which no one can relate to. My other issue is the footage was lost in space how did it get back here.
Also, I never gave a fuck about the characters in Blair Witch, it might be why I don't really like it.
Solid job on the review and I agree. It did suck. I'm glad you like Blair Witch and Cloverfield, I do too. This film was boring and worthless.

@ramboraph4life Ha ha, I think I was channeling Ramboraph a bit here. Too bad I didn't have a rock around that I could beat up.
