If I recall correctly... Damn Small Linux (if not the current installment, then maybe one of the earlier ones) had something like this, but it was a space exploration type thing. And stars were the files inside of folder solar systems.
'why aint the gaming companies thinking of this when they're designing gaming levels. A game that analyze the harddrive and then modify the game slightly depending on what you've got. Like taking images from the hdd and to use as billboards, integrating mp3 files into an in-game radio and, in more abstract games, base a complete level out of what types of files you've got.
is there any real use for this software or it s just to see the files ?? i downloaded it but i don t find nothing to help me just have fun watching the files, but it last like 1 minute
i got an idea if we flood chris with messages he might change his camera so everyone should spam him till he does and spread this idea plz so upgrade ur cam dude
It looks pretty cool, and it's handy. But besides the 'cool' factor I don't see the point of it being 3D, still looks great. But I'll keep using my flat one. (just file size view, standerd view option in knoqueror)
"StepTree is free for non-commercial use and should work on any Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP PC with a functional OpenGL implementation. Performance will of course vary depending on the graphics card, processor and memory configuration."
I guess it won't work for Vista... That's a shame cus' I'm getting Vista 64bit in a couple weeks...
Don't sound so self-righteous, obviously I was ignorant on account of me never trying Vista and not knowing anything about the OS. So thank you for the information, now try not to choke on your own arrogance.
I love it. You can look it up on google images to get screenshots. Lets you navigate folders in a piechart which can show you % or GB/MB size of files. It is 2D but I find it extremely helpful when I need to clear disk space.
I don't know if it runs that jerky on his PC, hopefully it's the limited frame-rate of the video.
I just checked it out, and it is awesome, Thanks Chris, another awesome app, and it is Freeware! I think I might actually like this better than what I have been using: Disk PieCharter 95!
How come all of your videos have such bad frame rates? I've read about the software/hardware you use on Wiki but I still don't understand why you can't get better stuff on youtube than what looks like crappy security camera footage
While browsing through my hard drive I ended up getting an error and just exiting the program. I'm letting my computer sit at idol and my CPU usage is above 25%. I'm using a quad core and my first core is 50-90%. I'll ret a reboot, hope it fixes it.
... meanwhile the girl he obsessed about in high school has travelled the world, met loads of really interesting people in her neighbourhood and has a sex life. Of course she's so stupid she has no idea how her computer files are organised. She can only be pitied..
noooooooo did you really have to bring that up??? that " this is unix;i know this " line still gives me nightmares xD hahahaha whenever i watch JP i shut my ears and start shouting random things when this scene comes up just so not to listen to those words :P
