I love the casual way he does the muted strings. This is such a good version, it's just as good as any versions Pete's done if not better. In fact, it's a pity I can't download this version too.
Look, I do know that some of you are just trying to be complimentary, but it frustrates me to no end when the frame of reference for everything Carl does ends up being about Peter every single time. I wish people would stop insisting on judging Carl by always measuring him up against Peter, whether he's "worse" or he's "better." I mean, yeah, I understand WHY people do it -- it's just frustrating sometimes, is all.

All I mean is that with a classic such as this that reminds us so fondly of the good old days, that it's good to remind us that both Pete and Carl still keep this song alive.

Though, most fans who have stayed loyal to Pete tend to herald him as the genius of the group. I just meant to say that Carl is just as talented if not moreso, and Dirty Pretty Things certainly proved that his writing is just as good as Pete's... Y'know what I mean?
I do understand you didn't mean any harm w/your 1st comment. You must have noticed though that in mainstream articles, Carl is almost always described in comparison to Pete and very rarely as who he *is*, period. Even the most innocuous stuff--he looks better, he's shorter, he's more hesitant, etc., and just either less or more of what Pete appears to be. It can't be helped, I suppose, since he has cultivated a public persona larger than life and Carl is forever tied to him in the public's mind.
