i lived on the lower falls road at the time,i grew up in alma st ,across from the falls baths,i'll never forget that day,it was hell,i remember the cs gas,it took your breath away,we put vinegar on towel's to help us breath,talk about british oppression they came to kill that day and kill they did,but the falls still stand's proud today,and im proud to be a falls road man ,tiocfadh ar la

The Brit soldiers ran amock during the illegal curfew, smashing elderly women's windows, raiding homes and wrecking them. They assaulted women, men and children, wantonly and maliciously smashing religious statues and holy relics, laughing as they terrorised the people of the Falls.

On 5th July, the women of the district left their homes, and despite being threatened and manhandled, they went about their business. The Brits even threatened to open fire. That was the curfew ended.
