  • @PlaneAU look at the date!

  • @PlaneAU because thier is no law against it

  • @Lvieru96 haha ur just like me im now fifteen and im having a flying lesson its gonna be awseome cause im flying an old cessna 150

  • im 14 now....i want to be a pilot :D!!always wanted to be one :/.and i never knew you can pilot a plane at a certain age, espically in new york.(i live in new york lol.)

  • Correct, you can take all the lessons you want, but cannot solo until you're 16. Unlike driving, there is no age limitation to start taking flying lessons.

  • Hi,

even though the guy in the right seat is a pilot, is it legal to put a nine year old in the left seat of a high performance land airplane (or any airplane) ?

  • @ariasd yes it is

  • Don't be discouraged by your age. 14 is not too young to start learning. You can actually take lessons in a motor glider (like an airplane, but certified to glide too) at 14. You can solo at 15 and get a glider rating at 16! That would be a great way to start. Then at 16 you can solo a regular airplane, and get your private at 17.

That is the path I set for my youngest and it is a great way to really learn the basics. Ask your folks if you can take an introductory flight lesson. TA

  • irresponsible !

  • dang! im 14 and have always wanted to be a pilot. i didnt think it was legal until your 16
