You need a decent-size wheel so that the hamster's back isn't arched when trying to use it. Try to mix their diet up to. Try mixing in a little Hard-boiled egg/chicken/cheese, but stay away from GREENS, stuff like carrots is fine.
Loved ur vid that helped me out alot could u tell me or guess around how much all that cost for the water bottle, bedding, hamster, and food and food dish plz reply and I really looooved ur vid
There really isn't a species of hamster that won't bite from my experience. However you may find an individual who doesn't. For example, Charlie never bit anyone, while his brother Sam was a little monster who would go out of his way simply to bite whomever was interacting with him.
hey clean your habitat first hehe kidding anyway I'm planning to buy a hamster like yours and I'm wondering if I can put a male and a female in one cage? and if the female gave birth is it safe to let the dad stay in the same cage? please answer me because I can't afford a roborovski right now I know you can put 2 robo in one cage but how about russian? :) thanks a lot ^^
The habitrail OVO cage is good for dwaf hamsters, no wire bars, and plenty of room. It's also VERY easy to clean out. But I would really advise not using that cage for syrians, it's too small for them and can cause them to get really stressed. Both my syrians died in that cage, from wet-tail. I now own 2 russians, and they fit perfectly into the cage.
I Have My Very Own Russaian Dwarf Hamsters And There 2 Months Old And The Girl At The Pet Store Said "Dont Keep Your Hamsters In The Same Cage For 1 Months If U Do They Will Start Killing Each Other" :(
There Twin Feamale Hamsters And I Share Them With My Sister
The tank is fifteen gallons, and I got the water bottle hook at my local petstore, although I'm sure you could find it at Petco or Petsmart. If not, try looking on eBay. (:
@cupcakewhorexo The food bowl should be filled at all times, as hamsters tend to enjoy storing their seeds. However, if you provide toys, wheels, tubes, etc. that allow the hamsters to get the exercise they need, they will not have a weight problem. (:
Actually, the wheel is specifically made with a " criss- cross" bar design so that the hamster's feet will not slip through. But thanks for the advice! (:
It really depends. Keeping two hamster together is generally never a good idea, as they will fight. However, my hamsters are brothers and have been together since birth, and fortunatly get along well.
Though your hamsters feet don't fall through the slits of a mesh cage, it can cause a sort of blister like sore on the bottom of their feet later on in life.
Wire cages work, as long as the bars are spaced close enough that the hamster cannot squeeze in between them. What type of wheel do you have? Some hamsters prefer solid wheels, while others don't. Can you're hamster easily reach the wheel? As for to males in a cage, it is not generally recommended. However, my hamsters are brothers, and are literally inseprable.
I didn't say you had to give them treats daily. You can give treats to your hamsters whenever, I just simply stated that you shouldn't give them more them 2-3 a day.
well the last comment that i read from u was "actually it is a nice thing to give your hamster 1 or 2 treats a day, y is that a bad thing?" and i replied sayin that it is bad to give 1-2 treats a day cuz ur hamster can posibly die. u can give ur hamster 1-2 treats once or twice a week okay and my friend has talked to a vet as well.
Hey I have 2 of those habitrail safair cages setup and connected with tubes but im wondering how many dwarfs I can get? i was thinking of a group of 4-5
I would say 4 Dwarf Hamsters at the most, because they prefer even numbers, and like to have their own " territories" in the cage. You can get by with odd numbers, but it most of the time results in one hamster being left out/ pushed around. Hope this helps!

solid wheel not bars wheel, bar wheels are dangerous, since hammy could get his/ her leg stuck and broken leg

When you take your hamsters out how often do they poop on the carpet or wood etc.
Sureifyouwant 1 year ago
Uh, not much. Some people put newspaper or some type of sheet under the hamster's play area to reduce the amount of clean-up needed.
livelovelaugh297 1 year ago
what gallon is the tank i have a 10 and is newspaper ok and wood shavings? like sawdust? idk HELP!
hottie34203 1 year ago
@hottie34203 You cannot use newspaper, because the ink can be toxic. Nor should you use sawdust, because it can cause respitory illness.

is the campbell dwarf, russian dwarf, and winter white dwarf hamsters the same thing?
