My Viewsonic stopped functioning soon after arrival. I contacted them and after 2hrs obtained an RMA#. The tech stated that an email with instructions would follow. 3 weeks passed I cantacted them again and they again assured that the email would come. Several months of this went on and I requested a supervisor "John" He figured that my email which was simply my first and last name was miss-spelled. He went on to telling me that since it has been months...

... since the RMA was issued there was nothing he could do about it. He admitted that the mistake was that they had the email wrong but could not do anything about it. I told him that I would be forced to trash the unit, never to buy another Viewsonic, and note his name in my review. He said that he could care less what I do. I'm so frustrated and at a loss. Was I supposed to call everyday and be held responsible for their mistake...!? I dont get it! Left to vent here...never again!

$100 on amazon, but buy has it for $60 after $40 rebate. However if you live in CA, you gotta pay tax -and- $8 recycling fee (stupid), which brings it up to around $75. Still much lower than $100.

I'd like to plug it into my car stereo aux jack to play music and audio books. So the remote is exactly what I needed. When I'm out on errands, I need my portable player to play movies for my little one. I also want the flexibility of getting as much memory as I need and as my needs change. I just keep a little wallet of cards handy with music, movies, and text/book files.

So THANK YOU for taking the time to list the features of this player. You ended my marathon search for help. Kudos!

Ok. I just bought it. I really like the product. But one problem: No documentation to specify recommended resolution. I had to try variuations of AVI MPG MP4 etc until I found one that works best on the screen as well as watching on TV.

Looks like the poor man's Archos. I have a 120GB Archos 5 and regret not getting the 250GB version. There's no way I could live with 8GB. That said, it's only 130 CAD.

the ARCHOS 5 is unbeatable. Up to 250 Gb of space, accepts every format in existence, plays 720i, has wireless internet and a 5 inch touch screen. in my opinion, it even beats the Ipod Touch.

sounds good but: 1) how long does the battery last (can I watch more than one full length movie on it? 2) cost. At $300 you might as well invest $100 more and buy a full functional laptop

battery lasts about 7 hours on video and 19 on audio. the are fairly expencive, but i assure you it is worth it.

i think , i kinda like this product... but i'd rather get a Sony PSP3000 w/c has the same size of the screen.. but then again, the capability to play almost every files available and use it as a media device for harddrive makes me want to go for this.

btw, sony's XMB menu looks way better than this one... lol

then again this one has more battery life, better screen, better screen resolution, 720p output to a screen. has faster onboard memory, more formats. cons... no games, menu doesnt look quite as good. thats about it. well i guess the feature to skype call in a psp-3000 is a big plus along with the internet browser and wifi
