  • Misguided and totally pointless. Especially as you can still read "Granada TV" in the muck lol

  • well everything else is becoming corporate & souless so i guess itv granada is no exception. :o|

  • Well done ITV, more proof your network is complete and utter shit. Removing the Granada TV logo is disrespectful to the city's media heritage. A needless act

  • Whoever now owns ITV can take down the Granada sign and even pull down the studios but what they can never do is erase the legacy of outstanding programmes made inside those walls something that the current owners could only dream of, the Bernstein brothers Granada TV gone but never forgotten.

  • Fucking ITV

  • No, ITV are moving from Granada's Quay Street studios to Media City in Salford by 2012. That includes the rebuilding of the Coronation Street set at Media City too. Granada is/was my region if you know what i mean, before the big ITV1 rebrand. The current site is to be demolished and sold for a mixed-use development, probably to Tesco. This is the final nail in the coffin of regional ITV and i am furious with these money grubbers who made the joke which is now ITV1.

  • This is sad news for TV enthusiasts.

Also gone for ever now - the Southern/TVS/Meridian studios in Southampton.

  • Shocking! How could it be Health and Safety after being there for 50 years and not posing a risk! It was an iconic piece of history; first thing Id look for from a train window heading into Manchester. TV and its history is ruined beyond repair in this country!!

  • Absolutely disgusting. A complete disregard for heritage. That sign had been up there for 50 years. Health and safety is an excuse for ITV executives to attempt to wipe the name "Granada" from our memories so we can all learn to love their crap network.

  • 'Health and safety' my arse! No doubt a brand new sign that says 'ITV Granada' has now taken its place?

  • Like the chevron "blew down" on Kirkstall road?

  • It may only be a sign but it's part of Manchester's skyline and indeed heritage. I hope it can be made safe (if it was dangerous in the first place) and put back as soon as possible.

  • It's nothing to do with H&S to me, it's another excuse for ITV to standardise everything!
