Sometimes I think that our habit of killing each other off is some sort o pre-determinedf trait built into our very nature...by nature itself...to keep our population under control. I mean, it's a terrible thing to say, but if people didn't die from....whatever, whether it be natural causes, murder, suicide, natural disasters, diseases, starvation, genocide...you name it. We would be over-populated. Then what? Which is worse? Being over populated or dealing with death? They are both just as bad.

Natural disasters kill, too, people commit suicide, too. If you really want to control the population, then you might as well make a whole generation of people not have kids and just adopt them... there isn't really anything to be done about overpopulation.

About the only logical thing I can come up with is our DNA needs to evolve. We're basically all childish mental cases...for the most part. If you really think about it, are we even done evolving? This really can't be the end-all be-all of our species... If that's the case, the dinosaurs were more successful lol..

Like the writer Primo Levi said, concentration camps were the full realization of the fascist and nazist ideology. Today's Neo-Nazi movements lack the means to achieve this kind of race extermination, but the "seed of Evil" is still there. when the Spielberg hate-film 'Schindler's List' opened to theaters the NY Times conducted a poll which showed 33% of american adults did not believe the WW2 holocaust stories. Since 1993 the overall figure has increased to 45% which includes the european adults who do not believe the holocaust stories. The percentage of arabs who do not believe the holocaust claims is even higher. Technology such as the internet allowed vital information to be shared which helped to deracinate the myth.

the "final solution" was the German plan to export the european jews and not an extermination agenda. The WW2 victors shamefully used the admissions made by the defeated German officers about the emigration agenda to make it look like an extermination agenda. The other factual aspect to the "final solution" was the German plan to resolve all of the territorial disputes to create peace. If the Germans aimed to exterminate they would have just matched what the communists did to their dissidents.

The Holocaust gave bigotry a very bloody nose, and it will never seem so seductive again for many. But look what it took to get us that far. Churchill said that democracy is the worst system of government ever invented...except for all the rest. The same kind of sentiment applies to world peace. These people have become utterly convinced that their instinct for killing cannot be denied, yet their weapons have become so powerful that an actual war would destroy their civilization. The barbaric era in which we live will come to a close, one way or the other. But you had said we cannot have peace. My point was that we can and will. Adaptation is part of human nature too.  Children eventlually grow up. But growing up is always painful.
