It's hard to make it "your own" when you also have to make an arrangement for as many pieces in the bad are behind you. It's much easier to coordinate a band with a preexisting, prewritten piece. I also sing this song--totally differently and have been criticized because I sing it too close to the original piece and key.

Celine is a class act and a fabulous, consistent singer. I don't like all of her songs, but her singing talent can't be disputed,

This is the exact same version of the song Renee Olstead sings, only Renee sings it 10x better. Do a search for her version.

Renee's CD came out 2 years before this telethon. You think Celine could have at least tried to make it her own.

That 1987 version of the song is a much better version for her. It actually sounds like one of her songs. She styled it to fit her voice.

Who defines "the voice" for blues or jazz anyway?? Celine's voice has power, and is beautifully pure and flawless. She's good in what she does, even in jazz. I remember Fantasia Barrino did this in American Idol, but her voice is too husky for me, especially in high notes(in other songs). Celine Dion does really well in jazz, STILL.

As much as I love Céline she can`t be like Ella.She is a great singer, but she is simply not made for singing blues or jazz.I think even Christina Aguilera who else doesn`t sing has a voice goes in direction blues and jazz, she is not bad at all.Céline..no.not all.
