'89, the year I graduated from high school, and met the guy who would be my husband....It all started when I shared my Disintegration tape with him and introduced him to the world of Alternative and DarkWave music.......He was a headbanger and (converted) was seduced by the dark side......lol I still love my music, but his tastes have gotten.....let's say, different, over the years...... ;)
I saw this at Duke U, 2 days before Hurricane Hugo hit the Carolinas. Windows in the upper level of an antique gym, pouring down rain & wind outside louder than the storm sounds here!!
every tune from spine to the bone. cure live were always great those days. would pay my last penny to see them again the same way they were....deep
@stockman214 totally agree. there is no more music for todays generation thats worth listening to, or there is no generation today that is willing to listen???
memories 1989 dodger stadium Los Angeles was my memory of the cure on a full moon rain food fights fans fliping on stage crazy it was osome!!!!! nice sound for 1989 :)
What a beautiful and touching song !! The sound and music is just so deep and haunting. The Cure is a band who has certainly stood the test of time. Robert has such a unique voice that just blends so perfectly with the sound and style of their music. Wow, listen to the music in this song. It digs deep at the heartstrings. Disintigration was such an amazing album!! Amazing!! Rock on forever Cure!!
Esta música lembra-me o primeiro concerto que vi de Cure, em Lisboa, Estádio de Alvalade, 28 de Junho de 1989 ... Fantástico !!! Excelente !!! Uma das melhores noites que tive até hoje ;D
. This is my absolute favorite song from the cure. It touches my heart so deeply. It just really digs deep into your soul. It takes me back to a more simpler, happier time in my life even if that is ironic because it is a sad song. I guess that just has to do with who i was then. I have loved Robert and the cure for 24 years now and i know in my heart i always will. There is no other band out there that can touch my heart the way they do. They r the only band i listen to. I love you Robert !
@juniebird72 you always leave such sweet messages on those Cure songs, I hope Rob will read them some day!!!! I see why this song means so much to you. I hope you do listen to some more Mr Mister though too!!!! Songs of them bring back memories for me just like the Cure do for you...what a beautiful, haunting song...i do like this a lot....Robert's voice sounds almost ghostly..wow!!!!
this is the best cure song ever... at least my personal favourite.... Boris is the man... Jason is good but listen to this drumming... so powerful and yet so silent... it goes perfect with the feeling of the song... the thunder, the double snap.... man what a drummer! to create all that it takes talent and Boris definitely has it...
@jpbaidal Cannot agree with you more. This is their best song ever & Boris is greatly missed.. Disintergration is my favorite album of all time.. Love it!!
@jpbaidal Amen. Boris Williams defined The Cure for so many years. His drumming is distinctive and rock solid. The Cure hasn't been the same since he left.
and you have Simon Gallup on Bass... another icon of his time.
@jpbaidal Yes my friend, this is with out a doubt one of the greatest bands to ever produce music,Robert Smith is a genius prodigy, right up there with the sharpest musical minds to have ever lived upon this planet, his lyrics are so powerful,I like every song on Disintegration.

absolutely f'kin amazing. Truly truly beautiful. This song stops me caring about anything that doesn't matter and makes me feel alive about eveything that does. Till the end x
nah i prefer lol as drummer,es drumming created an unreal atmosphere eg.the drowning man,one hundred years hanging garden, pornography,a forest, cold, faith, siamese twins etc
Robert Smith wrote the songs, Lol Tolhurst just came along for the ride as his mate, contributed very little and ended up getting the sack.... I dont think Lol had much to do with musical arrangement.
I know what you mean, Courtney. His robotic and sparse drumming style really fit in well with the sense of dread and despair of the early Cure records, especially Pornography.
The Cure in general changed my life,i used to be into heavy metal stuff kinda, there music showed me that music is nothing compared, its just sound\,the cure is more than everything
Amen. It was the end of Alternative, New wave, Punk and whatever else being seriously underground or NON mainstream. EVERYONE came out for this show. Sept 15 1989 Dallas TX. I miss those days!
ecuador?? I didnt know there were more ecuadorian hardcore cure fans that love this song as much as I do!! This is the best song EVER by the Cure. Totally agree with you, and the best lineup too. Long live disintegration

Robert is saying:
"Well, THIS song goes quiet; it's like when you...CUT yourself in either ear -- or when someone doesn't want to speak to you."
(Makes complete and utter sense to me. Gorgeous.)

I could have sworn he said that The Same Deep Water as You is about when you touch yourself at night?! hahaha

Only now many years later can people really bask and reflect on, just what was lost at the end of that era.
