The yz 125 is one of the lightest bikes for its power. it puts out twice as much power than the 4 strokes. it also flies great and corners on a dime but to ride a 2 stroke you've got to keep your rpm up. 11000 to 14000 as apposed to a 4 strokes 8000 to 12000 rpm ratio. the piston is much smaller so to achieve maximum performance it must move much faster. therefore you have to be a good skilled rider to ride a 2 stroke right.
If TM had a better dealer and parts network in the US, they'd sell a ton of them. Americans just refuse to buy a bike they cant get parts for when they break. and then there's that contingency thing, which im convinced is the only reason anyone still buys suzukis.
Wow! Mad props to Stu. That was a terrible start, he crashed and still won. Fuckamazing.. I like how he yells at the moving roadblocks. Stu, if you ever want to come toTexas and ride we will hook you up.
Holy crap!! Look right at 11:10, after he falls over, and after the tight 180 left, he is full on the throttle one hand while using his left hand to hit his break lever back up!!! Lol!!! Sick
Now that's how a Motocross race should sound, A race sounding like killers bees is better than sounding like a nursing home outing farting contest!! It's suppose to be Brrraaaaaaaaahhhhhppppp!!! Not Pffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffttttt!!
Next, a good 125 rider can run with the best, this guy ran with some top MX2 British Champ' (250F) boys in a Masters event on this bike and came 3rd overall, fastest lap as well on a track with hills !!, As for the old TM 'tales', my mate has a Honda...it died, another mate has a kawasaki.,.it died, I also have mates with KTM's/Suzuki's/Yam's...they're dead too, problem with most 'broken' bikes is their owners cannot look after anything, I know loads of people with TM's who have no problems!!
Some of the comments people make are so funny, lets put a few things straight, yes shocking start but then the rider is not racing the 125 full time, a little rusty perhaps on his 125 starts but then but still came from nowhere to finish second even after a fall and few incidents coming through traffic, also he made it up in the next two races by getting a holeshot and winning then next two races with quite some ease.
So are those TMs real hot bikes over there in Europe? I wish they were more available in America.... Do they actually have much advantage over let's say a ktm?
That was a great get up and go fall! You will never thank god sooo much in your life when your bike is still running when you pick it up after you've toppled..... and who can forget the damn lever quick fix pounding after you get up? Great vid, great riding!!!
@lolerbabop man you're fast at responding... well, like i said, 2T's are good in straight lines and tabletops. i stand by that statement as it is true in my eyes. mostly every 2T i have raced against in a uphill battle has lost to me, at least until i hit the flat lake bed.
@maxloadout16 Ever seen bubba on a 125? He can clear larrocos leap, Quad huge sx sections. Same with CR, Chad Reed, Ryno. In this case its all about the rider.
@lolerbabop i hope you at least understand my point. i know the pros and cons of each bike, and for what i do (hill climbing, enduro), i tend to lean towards 4T's
@maxloadout16 Yeah modern 4 strokes are mechanical marvels, no doubt. But you gotta keep in mind that most 2 strokes out there today are very out dated compared to the modern four strokes, yet they still get the job done.
@lolerbabop true... i do like 2T's in terms of simplicity and fun (along with the good o'l fashion smoke). but four strokes just have that urge to keep on running that benefits me in the racing that i do.
@lolerbabop 4-strokes aren't "mechanical marvels". Nothing should be considered that if it needs to have twice the displacement, unfair weight rules, and tracks designed for them in order to win a race.
Have you ever tried a DI 2-stroke? It does give them a wide powerband, but no one makes a DI 2T dirt bike.
@maxloadout16 If you can't ride a 2T up a hill you need to take some training courses on how to ride. A 125 can be tough since it isn't made for enduro, but there is a reason the 200 and 300 2-strokes are the kings of enduro. They lug like a 4-stroke and have a linear powerband, yet weigh 30lbs less. They win nearly every hard enduro and even all the KTM factory riders just switched to 2-strokes for the remainder of the enduro series.
@TheOfficialKC i have a KDX200 (i can go uphill)and i do love it, but compared to my CRF250x it just isn't fast enough on an uphill battle. like i said before... i love both types of bikes, but i just tend to lean towards 4T's
@maxloadout16 The KDX is by no means modern tech. Try a KTM or Gas Gas 200. They will blow your CRF250X away. And if you really want to be fair, try a KTM or Gas Gas or TM 250 enduro against your CRF250X. They will all outpull, out handle, and out climb a 250F.
