  • I've watched like four of these in a row. I'm all depressed now... :P

  • They forgot Ivan Dixon (A Raisin in the Sun)

  • I love how TCM's year-end memorials are always beautiful, stand-alone music videos. But of course it's impossible not to watch these and begin to cry midway through. Beautifully done.

  • For some reason this tribute touches me more than any of the other TCM farewells before or since. Not sure why, may have something to do with the strange, poignant symmetry of Paul Newman and Heath Ledger passing in the same year; that and Marpessa Dawn and Breno Mello, the beautiful co-stars of the unforgettable classic "Black Orpheus", dying of heart failure mere weeks apart. And the song--Joe Henry's stately, mournful elegy.

  • This song, I've decided will be sung at my funeral...not intending to depress anyone, only to uplift...just a divine & tender melody.

  • Michael Kidd, Cyd Charisse, Mel Ferrer, Suzanne Pleshette, Harvey Korman, and Paul Newman. What a horrible year.

  • Just beautiful. TCM does such a good job on these tribute videos. I wish the tribute videos done for the Oscars were this good.

  • 2008 sucked ass. Majorly.

  • Makes me cry everytime.

  • I remember when Paul Newman dies... I felt so sad...

  • When I saw this back in 2007, I was shocked they put Brad Renfro in this obit. The Oscars didn't do that shit. Only lived 25 years.

  • who sings this song ? and whats the name? I want to download it, very touching.

  • An amazing song, isn't it?

God Only Knows by Joe Henry

  • I just downloaded it Thanx. I remember watching it on TCM back in december. I swear TCM does a better Job at tributes than anyone and I mean ANYONE!

  • To wonder what Heath Ledger would of done after the dark knight and winning an oscar. That oscar wasn't just for that one performance (dead or not it was fantastic) but what would of been

  • The people in this video who we know, and remember for what they gave to us, are a reminder of what we all must expect, an end to joy, sadness, laughter and love. Tell the ones you care about how much they are apart of your life, for as the old refrain says " We Past This Way Only Once".

  • U hit that point So Right!

  • I love this song

  • Damn...I just got George Carlin to know about and was hoping to see him live...but he died.

He was a great comedian and a great man.
