I also like the 1975 Grammy presentation they did. Gladys absolutely kills "You and Me Against The World" Had she sang the original instead of Helen Reddy, it would have won.

Is it me or does Gladys adds something to any song she sings, especially the ballads, even Bubba sang, they jam the hell out of Love will Keep Us Together. I would love to hear sing the whole song. This is why she is known as the Empress of Soul.

Well 40 years ago, how very the different the songs of the year now sound. Easy listening clearly ruled. I think that Janis Ian's has held up the best. Some of the others now sound a bit melodramatic, although all of them are very polished and well-crafted pieces of music. It was the age of the professional songwriter.
