My OCD has been a part of my life as far back as I can remember...even before elementary school. It effects everything I DO and I am obsessed with the number 8. My life revolves around it. With lights I have to turn them on and off twice and everything else there is way to much to post here but check out my page. I have OCD videos.
iam 20 and i got ocd when i was 18 1/2, but i had obsessive behaviour before. now, 3 years later i have it under control. i go to school again and learned how to handle these 'situations'. it's important that you remind yourself to calm down when stressed and take a break from this emotion that is overwhelming you. it WILL pass, I promise you! to anybody who knows what i am talking aBOUT feel free to contact me :) i don't know anybody with ocd but me
Prejudice about OCD has never been worse in my opinion. Everyone thinks it's just a cute little acronym for a quirk. OCD is a monster illness. One of the world's most disabling. A psychiatrist once told me it's worse than being in a wheelchair. No way to discuss it, really--so then you're treated like you're NOT sick!!
I have OCD. The form I deal with is checking. It could be anything including the stove, appliances, doors, and water faucets. I know it's irrational behavior. That's what hurts the most. I see myself performing irrational rituals and I can't stop it. It's as if there's a lack of faith between my eyes and my brain. Anyway, it's comforting to know that I'm not the only fighter in this war. Thanks for the video. Take it easy.
OCD is a terrible prison. Have you tried EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)? It's a very simple procedure that involves repeating positive messages to yourself while tapping various parts of your body. i know it sounds bizarre, but it works for phobias, anxiety, etc. (though they don't know why). A cognitive therapist can show you how - it's very simple. Or maybe you check it out on the net and do it yourself. I hope you can get some peace - this is no way to live.
@JoyousinJesus Thank you for the advice. I have decided that if I join that I would join up as an officer, perhaps it wil be slightly easier as I don't have to get quite as hands on as the enlisted members.
@JoyousinJesus OCD gets worse whenever your under stress. I am thinking about joining the military but I am afraid my OCD will make things hard. I have a mild case of it compared to other people I have seen though.
@JoyousinJesus I saw your videos and I was intrigued. Did you ever see anything else, like floating headstones or the like? I went to a couple graveyards in the middle of the night without a K-II meter and I've always been disappointed with the outcome. How much do they cost?
I will pray that the Lord, Jesus will break these bonds over you and keep you in His love. When we are focused on the trivialities of this life, then our focus is not on Jesus like it should be. I think you are a strong woman and Satan is using this disorder to keep you from some important God work in your life.
Hi hun, I really feel for you. My daughter, who is now 18, has suffered with this debilitating condition too since she was around 11. We live in the UK, & she sees a therapist; he did say something interesting though. Apparently, OCD stems from some sort of chemical imbalance in the brain, which can be treated with medication. My Daughter & I are still considering this, as it seems a bit drastic. I wish you well hun, & I hope you conquer it!! God bless. Sharon. x

I am currently fourteen.
I was diagnosed with OCD when I was nine years old and I have been taking medication for it ever since.
I think that I can connect to this video because I have different obsessions too.
I used to wash my hands so much that they would crack and bleed.
I would wake my little sister up at night to make sure she was alright and still breathing.
There were other things I'd do too but these were probably the most severe.
Do you have any suggestions?

How did you get through the military with OCD?

It started for me when I was 11 as well. I'm 22 now. The past 11 years have been a waste...

@JoyousinJesus You are most welcome, dear sister. Do you still go to graveyards with your little tester thingy?
