@buttsi The DVD. What is amazing is that some view You Tube as a threat to the performer's livelihood. But for this You Tube video, I would never have purchased the DVD. I suppose you could waste an hour downloading this opera, but most who would purchase the DVD earn more than $30 per hour.
Christie is so fine, but this production is awful, and pales to what I saw at the Paris Opera many years ago. Authentic and brilliant. Oh well, what can you expect from Andre Serban? He's really into "being cute" with lots of actions on the stage to cover up his inability to really direct.

La chorégraphie "dindonesque" est vraiment très drôle. Je l'approuve car, si l'on peut choquer dans un opera seria de Mozart avec de telles mises en scènes, Les Indes Galantes, par la niaiseté de son livret, supporte tout à fait cela.

I've the impression that the Europeans are the laughing stock here. Consider their prejudices and ideas of cultural superiority based on Christianity at that time. I fear that those ideas are still prevalent in some parts of the world today!

mais cette rhytme n'etait pas le rhytme original de la partiture original qui apparaissait dans l'opera? je pensait que mark minkowsky etait en train de faire quelque chose tres insolite ou quelque chose comme ça... je sais pas, en lissant tous ces commentaires..., ça m'a laissé très confuse sur cet objet.... (pardonnez mes fautes grammaticaux, s'il vous plait)
c'est bien l'une des plus belles pages de christie avec un tempo tel que le grand RAMEAU l'avait prévu! ah, que cela fait du bien d'entendre, de voir que quelques-uns ne se limitent pas à faire de la formule 1 sur scène et sur instruments...

This opéra by Jean Philippe Rameau was performed at the Paris Opéra (Palais Garnier)
The company is "Les Arts Florissants" which is baroque oriented choir and orchester founded in 1979 by american born musician William Christie.
