I love hearing good songs on YouTube you might not otherwise come across, whether there's a video or not. It seems about 15,000 people agree on this one!
The more I listen to Kate, the more I love her! Her accent is beautiful; I really like the words used by kevinjholmes: soft, romantic, & lilting. Perfect adjectives that also describe her voice & the songs themselves.
Kate actually found old English/Irish/Welsh folk songs and filled in a couple verses to complete the songs. They are old folk songs she reinterpreted... according to independent radio out of Cleveland at least.
@ecuka To add, Barnsley is infamous even within Yorkshire for the power of the accent. My Mum and my Grandad (both being born and bred in Leeds, W. Yorkshire) many many years ago picked up a hitch hiker going into the city, having travelled thus far from Barnsley. They neither of them could understand a word he said :)
Totally seeing her live in December, front row seats too! I literally can't wait.

I would not mind seeing a film based on this song. I can picture the horse dancing into the waves.

Great song but why post on YouTube if you have no video to go with it?

According to the "likes", currently 49 people agree with you, not 15000.

@teammoont I would guess they meant the total views, which continues to rise along with the "likes" :)

She's got the most lovely litling voice. And she's so controlled. Very talented. Wish she toured Oz :(

who sang that, I mean. Oh, smoshshsh, I agree! Weird, it's like a british-irish pronounciation, I guess... or who knows. :D
ecuka 3 years ago
She's from Barnsley, in Yorkshire (in England)
Yorkshire, having one of the world's most famous accents
Rusby08 3 years ago 6
Can't agree more with you Rusby08. The Barnsley accent is one of the best for English folk. Soft, romantic, and lilting.
kevinjholmes 2 years ago
Not as famous as the geordie accent;)
check out her bring me a boat song.

The song is really nice and relaxing, but her pronounciation is kinda weird... :S

'kinda wierd'?
A bit like your inability to write English properly?
What would you prefer? everyone to speak/sing in some dreadful American drawl??
rogthedodger 2 years ago
When I heard this song for the first time it wasn't Kate Rusby who song that. Does anyone knows who was it? Oh, but 5* song ;)
ecuka 3 years ago
Kate wrote it - who knows who covered it?
