  • is that a primer?

  • does watercolour "behave" normally (as it would on watercolor paper) on this watercolour ground or does it have more difficulty to penetrate?

  • Such an exciting product and so many possibilities! I love Daniel Smith! I do have a question about this ground: can it be used on an encaustic painting? I would love to incorporate watercolors with encaustics. Thank you!

  • Hi DavemanXP,

Glad you liked the demo and our new Watercolor Ground!

Yes, we reccomend spraying it with a spray varnish:

"As with all watercolors, your work on DANIEL SMITH Watercolor Ground will need to be fixed if it will not be framed behind glass. GOLDEN Archival Aerosol MSA Varnish with UVLS is an excellent spray varnish that will protect your work on any surface"

Hope you try our new Watercolor Ground and thank you for commenting!

  • This is really cool!!! It might be what I am looking for. Thanks for the video demonstration. Until now I didnt know if water color on metal surfaces was possible. I am assuming you have to spray a clear coat of some kind to protect the painting on metal? I want to paint in water color on my computer case.
