Actually the trick at 4:10 is called "keep on trucking to fakie" because he made the "keep on trucking" pose from the 70's poster (leaning back, front leg extended with toe up) then brought it back in fakie. This is one of the few video I owned in the early 90's. I watched it a million times.
This video brought me back. As a 36 year old trying to skate the parks now, Sadlands looked really easy now, I remember skating it once in hopes of seeing Lester Kasai. The shop still exists as a bike shop now, it's on the corner of Lincoln and Santa Ana in Anaheim. I remember in middle school when some of the kids skated his ramp. Sadly, I didn't, I sucked on ramps, old school street skating behind loading docks and ditches...I guess he was an artist, eh?
Great vid. This was how I remember skating, you know, little street ramps and backyard mini ramps. My first good board was a Neil Blender coffee break, 1987 I guess. Had a Psycho Stick before that.
Not true at all. Boards where heavy and not near as functional as todays. There where not as many sponsors...so it was really hard to be noticed. Not to mention hard to earn a living doin it. If you think its that easy...go get an 80s board and give it a try. I assure you..though the tricks weren't as tech...the still took alot of skill. And please...film yourself on the 80s board and post it. I need a good laugh.
wow youre dumb. along with what jdebruh1 said, there was no internet, only a few skate mags, so unless you moved to cali or got lucky at one of the few demos outside of the west coast, you'd have a damn hard time getting noticed. and obviously skaters werent as advanced as they are now, you think the first skaters to step on a board were doing shit ppl do today? get a clue you retard.
