Awesome man, and I don't think it was attacking, I think it was just playing. I read that they like to run up and peck at you and then run away to get a reaction, or something like that. Still, awesome birds man <3
Wrong. That was NOT an "attack" by any stretch of the imagination. That was probably a male doing some courting. They fall in love with people. They typically rock their heads from side to side like that when they are "in love". As for pecking the camera, they will peck anything shiny or brightly colored. Never wear dots, shiny buttons or jewelry in an Emu pen! If you wear glasses, beware. I raised twenty of them from juvenile to "coming-two's", and I will forever have the scars to prove it.
@burralonger The less color contrast you have on, the less they will peck you. That doesn't mean they won't peck at all though - all it takes is a tiny piece of lint and they'll peck (remarkable eye sight). I wear glasses and I learned that, if they become fixated on them, I had better have my arm up in a blocking position. :)

Nicely done!! :) This is some of the best reference footage of an emu (particularly how they walk) I've been able to find on YouTube.
