i use older model stock 4x4 trucks to usually ensure it hasn't been modified and ran to death before but theres no real way to ensure that

just gota take your chances and buy a truck that in your opinion is built well (i-e, weather you like ford or chevys)

as for the price a nice street legal mudder will end up costing you a couple thousand to a few thousand in parts (excluding installation fees)

it just matters how far you want to go and the quality of parts you want
