I've had a few GM cars from 91 to 08, and this 09 G8 GT I have is hands-down the best quality car out of them all by a HUGE margin. Very fun car to drive whether I feel like putting around like a grandpa or pedal to the floor spirited driving. Don't knock this car because it has a Pontiac logo on it unless you've OWNED ONE.
I can't stress this enough - The Pontiac G8 does not succumb to problems like just about every other Pontiac car, let alone GM cars. The interior is night and day better, not plastic junk like typical GM. The G8 was built RIGHT, more like a 40 or 50k car, not a 20k car.
@N2FSTCARS I agree with yynotnnh. The exhaust is just too bad for a muscle V8, I was expecting more of rumble, like a proper muscle car. That sound is like that of an old 3800 V6 with supercharger. Youtube B7 S4 exhaust
soooo i didnt get a chance to look though all the BS comments. but thats not a stock exhaust right? whats in it? i own a G8 GT and it shure as hell doesnt sound like that :)
@swordscream The G8 GXP has the same engine as the new 2010 Camaro SS, so it puts out 400-426HP, does 0-60 in 4.6-4.9 seconds. Top speed of the 2002 Camaro SS was about 170MPH, that was with 325HP, this 6.2 liter 426HP beast should be able to hit 190MPH.
@Quatermain98526 Top speed isn't completely engine based. There's a huge difference in transmissions between a V8 sedan like this one, and a V8 sports car. Similar to how a 2002 Grand Prix Gt has the same engine as a V6 Camaro, but they drive completely different.
@bubbacola190 They actually don't do so well in the snow, my dad got a GXP last winter and it just slid everywhere, my lil Grand Am does better in the snow than his car does.
@kikomonsta13 Well of course, the G8 is RWD, your Grand Am is FWD. RWD is made for performance cars to be fast and handle well on dry pavement. FWD is made for fuel economy and good handling in all weather conditions.
@bubbacola190 i have the GT version, and it's pretty much what you get with rear drive. Light snow its ok. Moderate to heavy snow, don't take it out. I hate winter but i love my G8 so i can sacrifice a couple nights out of the year of not being able to drie it.
@bubbacola190 my friend has one here in Minnesota and he has a set of winter tires and rims that he put on and loads his trunk with a couple sand bags right over the rear wheels. The only time he had trouble with it is when he didn't put the sand bags into his trunk before a snow storm. After i brought them to him he had no trouble driving home.
@bubbacola190 i have an 09 and i put nitto ns2 snow tires on it. BESSSSST snow tire in my book i drove one week with out snow tires on and since i have had the ns2's on i went with all 4 on the factory wheel and in the summer i run 22 inch chromes
@bubbacola190 WIth MAX PERFORMANCE SUMMER ONLY TIRES which this vehicle has as well as my G8 GT with the sport package (19in wheels as well as the max performace summer only tires) you get only that....maximum performace in the summer and literally DEATH in any kind of snow or slush whatsoever! That thing would be able to go forward on a flat surface and that is it...put it on ANY kind of incline and it will just go sideways. That is why I switch out to 17in wheels with SNOW TIRES & it kicks ass
@bubbacola190 My dad has a Pontiac G8 GT and it handled HORRIBLY in the snow. Chains work, but I wouldn't use them. Studded snow tires are the way to go for a G8.
probably sketchy. even with chains RWD can be freaky if you are not on top of it. Then again I have never even driven a GXP, so what do I know? :p LOL
i don't know why everyone is giving you thumbs down, because you're absolutely right. don't get me wrong, you got a beefy supercharger in the GXP, but all the G8 is, is a debadged vauxhall.
yeah but the vauxhall special edition is way better and sounding then the north american G8 and the Australian HSV R8 is also way better sounding with its supercharged turbo, the north american one was...i dont know what they did but its not the same :( and its not in Canada :(
dont hold your breath. even if they would bring back a firebird, which they won't, they legally can't make another car called "trans am" ever again. they no longer have the rights to use that name from the trans am racing series.
you can't buy a division of GM.. it would have to be seperated from GM first...and thats not what is happening, they are canceling the name plate....no more pontiacs...kinda like OLdsmobile only different reasons...
Do your homework first, bonezy09. Yes, Pontiac will be discontinued after 2010 and yes there are plenty of Pontiacs being made and hopefully GM will move the GXP G8 over to Chevrolet. GXP # are extremely low so you better get one before they are gone!!!

@Quatermain98526 It'll probably only hit a little over 170 because of the tall 6th. gear, it has around 436hp. with 3.70 gears.

GM's #1 problem. Even those that work there don't trust their cars.
"Come back in one piece". Well maybe f GM knew how to design a safe car, you wouldn't have to say that.
