Why do people think this song is so great because of Chris, the reason its so hauntingly chilling is because of 1oct+ harmoniser effect on Tom's Digitech Whammy pedal. Do not get me wrong Chris is a great singer, but he does very little for this song (In theory I think someone with a more feminine voice would do a better job), and considering he became a dictator over the bands music I don't see why he gets most of the credit but that's just my opinion, doesn't mean I don't like audioslave

Tom Morello said, that the band was so us to saying "Fuck you, i won't do what you tell me" and yet when Chris came along they when being told what to play and no one protested. Chris wasn't a bad band member, he just didn't want to play Progressive activist music, and the break up was just a time to end it sort of thing. Dictator was a harsh word, but I was ranting.

@BlackenedIdol I hate the amount of respect that chris cornell Gets for such little work, He's not a great singer, studio he is ok, live he is terrible. I'm not saying Zach is better, although his lyrics were. Chris took an activist progressive rock band and turned it into a rock pop band, I like Audioslave as it is still 3/4 Musical talent, But Chris' voice needs to remain with Soundgarden, there it worked.

I hear elements pulled from psychedelic music. A bit of classic R&B also. But then again Cornell's vocal style is R&B in nature seeing as how he cites them as his main vocal influence.

When I say R&B, I mean classic artists like Chuck Berry (know he's Rock N Roll, but when he started out he was labeled R&B), Little Richard, Ray Charles, etc.

This song is just...it's just...wow no words. I thought like a stone was as good as it got but this is just sublime. Just one amazing song. I miss audioslave. I grew up knowing them, not RATM. They were a great band, I'm sick of people saying they suck and RATM was better. RATM is great no doubt, but its just the sheer depth of chris cornell which makes you love it.

Thats what I love about audioslave and Chris. they're onme of the few groups that still sing those kinda songs. Shadow of the sun is another one of my favorites and remember black hole sun? Some of Cornell's most psychedelic and complex music is on Euphoria Morning.

It's also a tribute to Jeff Buckley.

The vocals are some of the best he ever produced. Not better than Soundgarden in terms of power, but he sings more than he belts. But when he belts, it's Soundgarden in your face.

Not with the first Audioslave album. Still a pretty strong voice but you can hear the deterioration starting to set in.

Yeah, it's a different version than the studio album. For their debut album, you can find duplicate versions of every song, plus a few extra jams.

I'm not 100% sure on the reason, but I think they recorded a completely different version of the album under the name "Citizen," and then scrapped it. Check LimeWire and instead of searching Audioslave, search Citizen and you'll find alt versions for every track off the debut. My favorite alt version is Getaway Car. Awesome!
