Absolutely stunning. This gave me chills up and down my spine! What amazes me more than Gilmours' raw talent and tone is the ignorant, self-serving, stuck up comments some people are making about modern music. Why would you soil the good nature of this video with biased, hate-filled comments? You're not witty, or funny, or edgy. We've all heard it before so just get over yourself and go write a blog about it. Goodness.
He can play with one note, what Jimi plays in 200, and I love that. The fact of the matter is, they both are gods, and it proves that feeling regardless of technical ability is MINT.
when i think of a good guitar player i don't picture an extremely fast player. it seems thats all people think about when they imagine a talented guitar player
Its awesome to think of how much history there is with this man, but also theres alot of history in that guitar! Hes had it since 1970, and used it live ever since then. Theres even been a book written about it.
Saw the band several times, amazing concerts for anyone that had the privilege of seeing them. 1960-late 80's, wow what can one say? Musically, probably the most creative time for bands and experimentation ever. We all may be getting old, but it sure was a gas to live it in real time!!!!!
@SuperBlancher i envy you man !!! it must of been absolutely just awesome would of love to of been their with ya sitting in the atmosphere with a pint just simply beautifal keep rocking :D
@Jaymz1265 Conveniently I'm not one to argue either, although I probably could. To each there own I suppose. Just know that I am a "plastic hollywood" fan, thoroughly enjoying a David Gilmore video. Then again I am only an 18 year old girl so I never lived through Pink Floyd :| Oh and Biebers from Canada :)
i dont know about you, but I'm from the states, and your exactly right. It is embarrassing because Justin Beiber and Lady Gaga are from the U.S. and in no way could replace the Floyd, Zeppelin the Beatles or Clapton. It really is depressing. I'm not just saying that, WTF happen to real talent?
@wakawl That's fine with me considering David Gilmour produced Animals by himself and I like that album more then the Wall. Although it is kind of rediculous how the whole band broke up because of Roger and David and I don't get why David got the Pink Floyd name considering David wasn't even there at the beginning. Oh well I think we can all agree Meddle was the best Roger/David album and Syd Barret(spelling?) was just a plain fucking genious.
@yuiotred2 emotions aren't even real, just a figment of your imagination. You failed to mention that he's a phenomenal player aswell. speed has nothing to do with guitar playing unless you play some form of metal/rock.
@yuiotred2 You say that like playing fast guitar is necessarily a good thing. In my opinion, guitar players like Michel Angelo Batio develop their technique so much because they are incapable of writing a decent piece of music. Anyone can play complex guitar parts with practice, but simplicity is the work of true creativity.
@fakethat93 I agree 100% with what you say. An important part of guitar playing is to understand you dont need to play a note, spaces and timing give the music depth
Can anyone tell me where this clip is from? I don't see it on the "making of" Classic Album broadcast. There is a part of this clip, but not in it's entirety like this particular one. Thanks :)
WOW congratulation! this is first video where's not any comment with hip hop or justin bieber it's good to see that 14 years old kids just enjoy music and stop fighting with fucking commercial music
This is why Dark side of the moon is still hailed as one of the best (if not -the best-) albums in the world. Amazing musicianship mixed with ingenious production.
His pedal setup looks like a train set. Incredible that David can remember everything. It's amazing what can be done with a nice collared shirt and a tasteful jumper.
the fender pedal steel wants to emit a peculiar american country crying sound that gilmour was able to,quite cleverly, damp down completely on the album.
@AngusShanks Im not denying the fact that he's a freaking genius, all i'm saying is that its not hard to get a great tone when you have acces to such equipment.
True, but he'd have great tone without it is what I'm saying. If I had his stuff I'd have BETTER tone than I have now but I'd never sound like him with his equipment either. He was once asked why he likes Strats so much and he said it's a guitar where the player's personality comes out moreso than when a player uses a LP or humbuckers.
@StingChameleonREMIX every generation said that. old people in the 70s said that about rock bands, including pink floyd. who cares, live and let live.
@theflatearthsociety No, i wont live and let live. Mainstream music has become absolutely stupid, and I'm not complacent like you are. So, I take a proactive stance.
@StingChameleonREMIX There are still great young musicians out there, but sadly most are confined to the basement or garage or the bars. Everything is way too money oriented even more so now than ever. Knopfler, Gilmour, Clapton to name a few are aging as you had written. Gary Moore, SRV R.I.P. People complain about John Mayer but at least at his concerts he tries to keep a lot of this music alive. Where else can you hear a ripping version of Voodoo Chile in a stadium?
@StingChameleonREMIX Hey man, it's true, but music changes with the times, right? Doesn't mean Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and Lil' Wayne aren't good and when they're gone people (new and old) will remember them as greats too.
@littleYOmama I have to disagree. I'm not one to argue, but when the plastic people of Hollywood writes something as good as Dark Side of the Moon, only then will they be remembered as "greats"
