  • @Pakunin61 If you watch the film you will see that the hunting already took place. When our jeep turned the corner we drove up on a scene already taking place. The first lights are the jeeps headlights. We then did use a spotlight a few times to see what else was out there. They do now use lighter red lights than the white spotlight used here so it is less on the animals. It seemed that the walking Topi's simply walked into two resting cheetahs, and then we drove up.

  • to bad cheetahs cant eat as fast as they run

  • its sad to see something like this happen but in the end its just nature.... we cant go in there and say what nature can and cant do because in the end its the carnivores that suffer!

  • it's not that easy filming in the wild,so i think everybody would understand i read the description and i think you are humble enough to admit the risky situation,so you made my two thumbs up man;D

  • @jacoeyztify Thanks. Most people probably don't understand the nature shows they see on tv have multiple cameras, take weeks-months to get enough footage to make it, and at times will use different animals to tell the "story" of one animal. I am amazed at how people holidng one small video camera can get some great footage here on YouTube. Luck plus the skills of your guide/driver and in this case, being able to find my camera in the dark and having battery power helped. Thanks for watching!

  • WTH?? I thought cheetahs only ate Cheetos. You have crushed me, sir.

  • ooh so the cheetah ate the baby topi and the hyena ate the jackal. btw that hena looks exactly like banzai from the lion king.

  • ...lol..fucken Jackels are always around yet i never see the other animals chasing and killing them, its like they dont even bother !

  • thats fukkked up they killed the mothers baby i would shoot the hell out of the cheetah

  • @kers52ghosthunter Cheetah's have to eat to, but they always get their food stolen. Darn Hyena's.

  • do they eat humans

  • Around two minutes in, what animal is making that noise if not the baby Topi? The hyena?

  • this is bull shit . why cant peeple jest leeve the animels alone in there habetat? Insted of poking araund with a flash lite?

  • i really the fucking mouth of hyena ,the uglyest animal in alll,y dont lion killl the the hyenas and keep their fucking mouth shut forever,

  • DAMN hyenas NOBODY LIKE YOU!

  • NEVER SEEN CHEETAHS HUNT A T NIGHT BEFORE

  • @Gr8Candid8 yeah it was most likely that these two had been following mom and baby for a while. Night came pretty fast with the clouds coming in. Or it could have been the topis just walked up where the cheetahs were resting and keeping away from lion. to have it all take place as we turned the corner was unreal.

  • @Gr8Candid8 thats cuz at night its dark and hard to see

  • imbecis, como podem usar uma luz dessas? parece um pequeno Sol,pq nao usam uma camera infravermelho ou verde?

  • i would much rather die from a cheetah than a hyenia. those guys just start eating your flesh (alive or not, they care not)

  • poor elephant

  • Cheetahs need to evolve a little better I think to survive, they have not adapted as well as the other cats. Leapard probably the best, great hunter and can haul food double its weight into the trees out the way which pretty much guarantees a good meal every time.

  • poor cheetahs, they can never defend themselves because if they get hurt there basically fucked for survival.. wish u could help them eat lol i feel bad for them

  • Good point, majeutycah!

That's also a good reason why many filmmakers use infrared cameras. I should get me one of those.

  • How to not interfere with animals affairs while filming them: during the night point a headlight exactly where two chetaahs are trying to hide to have their meal, just to make shure they are visible in the savannah from several miles, then watch the other animals guess exactly were to go to steal their prey; you'll have a cool video without any interference! not...

  • is it just me

or at :11 does that baby look like its sucking a penis

    lol jk, but really LOL

  • dude dont flash a light in the cheetah's facewhen its trying to eat dinner. How would you like it if someone did that too you?

  • ha ha the jackals follow all the predators. They are third in line. The cheetah makes the kill, the hyena steals it, and the jackals get the scraps.

  • you can't beat hyenas. they'll just back away while making "jabs" with it's powerful jaws everytime you attack it, and then more and more hyenas will show up.

that's how hyenas work, and all other predators know it is futile to try to beat them, except for a pack of lions.

all you can do is eat fast. except for the leopards epic tree climbing feat.

  • Cheetahs have to do everything fast, or they die: hunt fast, eat fast. But sometimes they simply fast. xD

  • on the topic of cheetahs not defending from hyenas, i think you are under estamating the power of a hyena. Although scavangers, they have incredible jaw strength and good endurance so its no wonder why cheetas dont mess with hyenas. Even if it 3 or 4 vs 1, out of those 3 or 4 not one of them wants to die over trying to eat a hyena.

  • i agree with those knowledgeable enough why cheetah's avoid risking injury. they are built for speed and not power. any injury is life threatening for the cheetah because they rely on speed to catch their prey. any injury that could affect the cheetah's speed can cause their death because they can no longer hunt for prey.

  • Would you like me to flash a powerful flashlight on your face while you eat your food so that others may see you eat?

  • i like cheetah but they are pussies even a when there is 4 or 5 vs 1 hyena..

  • When a cheetah runs 75 mph to catch its prey it puts a great deal of strain on their body. They exert an immense of energy. Right after scavengers will seek the exhausted cheetahs prey. Injury is life threatening because they rely on speed. Hyenas have the bite force of 1000 lbs. Cheetahs just weren't built to stand up to hyenas. They will fend off predators from their cubs to death though.

  • its pretty stupid how a group of cheetahs dont even TRY and defend there kill from Hyenas which is chettahs die so much of starvation because they SUCK at fighting

  • you dumb shit, cheetah's depend on their speed, if they get injured they wont be able to hunt, and so they cant risk it and fight, watch some national geographic punk, educate yourself

  • @ZoeHannahan

    I totally agree with you.

  • why not 2 or 3 cheetahs can kills hyena to death

  • @bestamerica I don't think its that they can't kill a hyena. It's that hyenas travel in packs (similar to wolves it seems). If the cheetahs attacked the hyena they'd be asking for a beat down. I read somewhere else the reason cheetahs are afraid of hyenas is "they cant defend their territory against them, and if they fight, they'll most likely die trying."

  • okay ryan,,,

    thank explained

  • Kalasisi cheetah cannot risk a injury and they don't stand a chance against a Hyenas.

  • Lol at jackal. He's like "what's up?"

  • poor video...they have lights but dont know how to use them

  • If those two cheetah team up they can beat that hyena.

  • Jackals are just to quick and not worth the energy.

  • I'm always wondering how come no animal like Lion, Hyenas or Cheetah interest in Jackals???? seems like they can follow those Predators with no worries!!! funny

  • i always thought the same shit

  • usually they leave jackals alone. Since they dont see them as a competitor but on rare occassions leopards have killed jackals.

  • Hyena so ugly!

  • Comment removed

  • the jackal is hilarious i could just hear it now "Hey! Hey! cmon man lemme get some caamoonnn pleeeze just a little. lil piece pleeeze!"

  • Hi, is the Topi the same as the Tsessebe?

  • They are listed as seperate species, but they do look a lot alike. The Topi is found in Kenya and the Tsassabe isn't.

  • my thing is, they were stupid for using an actual flashlight. yeah i know they probably had nothing else but the light attracts the othe animals to see whats going on. a trick for the next tim eto creat a softer light: put a cloth of paper towel on the flashlight and secure it with a rubber band. That way it wont attract other animals and let the cheetahs keep their meal. they work hard for it.

  • It was a low watt search light, not a flash light. (a flashlight wouldn't have done anything) The hyena was already with the cheetah. A jeep if anything, wouldn't attrack another predator, it would scare it off. Hyenas often follow cheetah as well as jackals. Some felt the cheetah were not hunting that the topi just came upon them. Which makes sense since we never saw the cheetah run.

  • That and cheetahs tend to hunt more in the early morning/late afternoon to avoid these things.

  • @briczar22 Your in the Mara right? Because of the popularity of that national park and the vehicles constantly there, the animals have gotten very used to vehicles and don't fear them, which is why you can get so close. The vehicles don't really attract the animals as it is just another daily thing they see. The young will be interested, but will soon get used to them. It is more the sounds and scents that attract other animals then the vehicles or lights themselves.

  • @briczar22 It was obvious that light attracts the all preditors... They've learned if there's a light. There's a food...

  • stupid cheetah he kill and hyenas eat

  • oh poor baby topi :(

  • hey: that's the real nature of our world.

  • bastard wont share

  • I never knew cheetahs would hunt at night. From what I learned, cheetahs would regulate their hunting schedules to the day so that they could avoid competition at night since night is when hyenas and lions are most active

By the way, that hyena looked soo evil at night that it was awesome! especially it's eerie calls

  • you are corect they are mid day hunters usually. This plot of land was new to wildlife as it was a farm for years. So we were seeing what had moved onto the land. It might also have been the cheetah weren't hunting, but theTopi were at the wrong place at the wrong time sort of a deal.

  • Hey Brian. You know you did probably disturbe the hunt at 0:26 . The cats eyes were adjusted for the dark and then suddenly... bright light... Im just saying...

Tough the cheetah probably didnt have much of a chance to bring down that big topi. but maybe...

  • Who knows. This all took place on the road back to camp. We were going home and the driver had to have lights on to see so we didn't drive off the cliff :) We drove right into this action, we weren't looking around.

The guide/driver used the lights on/off (more off then on.) I obviously just show the footage from when the lights were on.

  • why kill the baby you idiot...damn the nature is so cruel

  • you trying to reason w/ a wild animal?..damn human culture is so cruel for allowing you to speak..

  • crowers73 if you were a hyena...i would probably kill you for fun lol

  • HYENA dont usely hunt for them selfs they hunt in packs there pack animals

  • lol the jackal is always the spectator in every fight its freekin funny always seeing its name and heyenas need to be given more credit they arent bad animals they are like lions . they can hunt for themselves and help stop animal over populating in africa and they help stop spreading diseases hyena ftw!!

  • Animals do become extinct at a much lower rate than the present rate. Thus humnas are indeed playing a huge role. Many parks do have problems with people, but when a good plan is put forth, both the locals and the wildlife benefit. As seen with Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, with local woman making money for the first time, and children going to schools all paid for by the wildlife and the tourist money they bring in.

  • Pond for pound the hyena is the toughest animal alive. There is another video on youtube that has a hyena getting tackled by two male lions, and dammit, that little fucker fought tooth and nail and actually got away at one point. The 2 lions did prevail but thier faces were torn to shreds

  • wolverine is tougher for size but yea hyena is brutal tough with strongest jaw power for its size.

  • SatelliteRox,

I've seen pictures of Africans with domesticated hyenas as pets; they even walk them on a leash like a dog,

I think they're crazy; one bad day with a pissed-off hyena would be a bad day indeed

  • Domesticated Hyena would be awesome depending on how well they make pets.. i guess when you wrestled with it it might just nip of your arm while play nipping lol

  • yes but is the honey bagger tougher then the wolverine? Or is the tasmanian devil tougher? So witch is the toughest?

  • first learn how to spell..then relog..a bagger????

  • English is not my first language so heres what you do:

First remove that 30cm dildo from your ass. Then put a huge tampon in it, so you dont have anal leakage from all that stuff...

  • I would say that the Wolverine is the toughest animal alive and Hyena is next. A wolverine fights to the death and seems to always win. I'd also say that it's the craziest animal alive lol

  • craziest animal alive is the honey badger. it would probably attack a T Rex if they still existed.

  • And that's why Jackals own. The prey animals and predator animals are distinct and each side understands the other.

Any animal, cheetah, hyena, lion, etc could kill a Jackal but they all don't because it's a predator as well. If one predator does happen to kill another, it rarely eats it because it's viewed differently.

    Fearless little guys, they're great.

  • I know hyenas can be annoying but they've became a forgotten predator

  • the hyenas would've found them anywayz...day or night...thats what they do...a cheetah rarely finishses what they kill.

  • Thanks guy for shining the light on the poor Cheetahs, its like getting a spotlight and saying: "HEY HYENAS! THERE ARE SOME FOOD OVERHERE FOR YOU TO STEAL!"

Seriously, if you guys are going to disturb the wild animals with massive blinding spot lights, whispering seems kind of redundant.

  • Thanks for your concern. The hyena was already with the cheetahs. Many times they will follow lions or cheetahs knowing they will make a kill. We came up when the action was already taking place. I trust our experienced guide to make the call on how long to stay and shine a light.

  • hyenas are irritating because they sound like they are laughing and taunting.

  • why is that irritating..? you're irritating!

  • LOL, Jackals are the most tolerated animal in the African savana! Lions, Cheetahs, Hyenas don't even care unless its something else.

Hyena: What was that? I heard something coming.

Hyena 2: Its just a Jackal.

Hyena: Oh ok... I thought it was thoughts jerk lions coming to take our food away again.

    Hyena 2: I hate them.

    Hyena: Me too.

  • how they dont eat the little jackal?

  • 0:10 - 0:12 LMFAO that things suckin it off hahahahaha nature rules

  • strange that the cheetah were hunting at night.

  • jackals are pretty small...which is bigger a jackal or a fox?

  • Just from seeing them..i would think the fox is a little bit smaller than the jackal.

  • you guys flashing the light on the cheetahs and their kill just made it easier for the hyena to find them....another way HUMANS have a negative impact on wildlife...

  • actually hyenas see better in the dark , if anything it is their remarkable sense of smell that drew them to the cheetah's kill.

  • i know that...i suppose i was simply venting on the fact that cheetahs are becoming a threatened species. I love them! ;-)

  • was that a jackal? jackal!? JACKAL? ITS A JACKAL RIGHT IT LOOKES LIKE A JACKAL I THINK ITS A JACKAL! JACKAL?!? JACKAAAL!?!?

  • it wasnt right the first time u said it, why the hell would it be right the next ten times?

  • lol

  • am kinda confused why the jackal dnt get eaten by the hyenas

  • Sometimes a lion or other predator will get mad enough to kill the jackal. Most of the time it just isn't worth their effort to stop eating the bigger meal i guess.

  • mabe the jackal doesnt taste like chicken

  • why the hyena doesn't hunt jackal!

  • heynas are soooo ugly!and they are strange too...in many ways.

  • Hyenas are beautiful, so are Cheatahs

  • more cheetah videos please!

  • cheetah are gay! lion look way better!

  • nice video , and about the hyena thing .

hyena's are very strong , i've seen videos where 2 hyena's take on a lion!

  • I see many guys who ask around why the cheetah doesnt beat up the hyena. And most people are like the bite of the hyena is to strong... but its not just the bite... cheetah's have given up all their strenght for agility and speed. I have seen cheetah's in afrika to and its true. A cheetah can even get beaten up by a large dog. they are so thin that even a hyena looks musceled compered to them. (sorry for bad english:P) but it are still beatifull animals... but not build for a fight!

  • Right.

Cheetahs are fragile creatures. If they get into a fight they won't be able to hunt.

It's easier to go hunt again then to fight for food.

  • the hyenas sound are so ugly.

  • I don't get why the Cheetahs don't just own the Hyena?

  • because a bite from a hyena will seriously wound any animal, and more-so for the fragile cheetah.

I've seen lions take bits from hyenas & trust me, they become quite timid afterwords.

  • Hyenas have one of the strongest jaws in the animal kingdom. It's painful, and for a fine tuned machine like a cheetah, any injury could mean its death. Not being able to hunt, run or fight is a problem. So cheetahs would rather run, than risk a battle, even if they could win it.

  • Haha yeah..little shits!

  • How come these large cats never go for the Jackal? All it seems to do it linger about pissing the other cats off lol

  • great question.. i think the same thing.. lucky little jacks i guess.

  • i've actually seen a cheetah killing a female jackal because she tried to make him go away(she had the den near that place). They are lucky indeed, but this female ran out of luck

  • Great video. Thanks. ^-^

  • Thank you for watching it.

  • Thanks for an educational and exciting piece of your experiences

  • You're welcome. Thank you for watching.

  • great vid!

  • dats crazy cuz usually cheetahs dont hunt at night

  • They hunt when they want, dude. Most, if not all, big cats are noctournal.

  • cheetahs tend to hunt during the day to avoid lions, hyenas and leopards who tend to hunt at night.

  • cats are not nocturnal. they are crepuscular.

  • this is the 1st vid i've seen by you, but i'm now hooked!! thank's for sharing them.

  • Thank you very much, I hope you like my other wildlife videos.

  • no! thank you! i've looked at a lot so far. but i keep re-watching them! so i've not got through them all yet! thank's for responding to my comment, i really appreciate that!!

  • vai toma no cú

  • why they used lap when they film the video, you must use other sort of camera.

  • Congratulations on getting to see this wonder. And thanks for the subtitles, they really helped.

  • at least the mother escaped to have another calf

  • That is how you have to look at it. The high numbers of prey species vs the low predator numbers. And the relationship they have to make a healthy eco system. But it is a little sad to see first hand.

  • Thanks for another educational and exciting piece of your experiences....

  • One thing I was wondering, the flashlight surely helps the animals kill each other? I mean, cheatah's can see well in the dark, so this torch is at their disadvantage.

Anyways, interesting video, this is nature, I prefer this thousand times more than a coward human killing an animal for its fur.

The sound at 02:05 are creepy, its like the blair witch project :)

  • Good question. The cheetah usually hunts during the day, but places like the Mara with so much tourist effect that. At this place we were one of two jeeps on the whole lot. But they were hunting at night. They got their prey as we showed up so the lights had no effect on the outcome this time. But yes a light could make things interesting for both parties, so we used them rarely.

  • ok cool.

I remember seeing on Planet earth a pack of lions waiting for the dark to attack a huge elephant. In the dark It couldn't see them well, so they got him. ]

  • The cats will use their advantage of night vision over their prey. Often at night you will see prey all in a tight group to give them a slightly better chance in numbers.

In this area all the predators seemed fat and well fed and the as the prey species numbers were really high.
