@Henbot Happens all the time - strike the side of the target from an angle - the arrow's going to fly far away in a completely different direction.

Friend was shooting at a competition once, he lost an arrow and spent more than an hour looking for it - he knew his arrow just missed the target, but didn't know it was a MASSIVE ricochet. His arrow was later found SIX targets across from the one he shot at.

i know compound bows are easier but i prefer recurve and long bows because i like to feel the power of the of the bow also the bow release trigger you strap to your wrist so you dont actually hold the string with your fingers seems like a bitch thing to use

This guy is amazing, I saw him shoot an aspirin out of the air that his wife threw up in the air. His shooting is a very different sport than shooting a modern compound bow - all of his materials are organic, no sights, etc. I shoot a modern recurve with sights and stabilizers but what he does is very impressive.

I disagree, compound bows do not take skill or fun out of it - they are simply more accurate and reguire even greater accuracy to be competitive, just like shooting a handgun vs. a rifle with a scope. Compounds = more about aiming, Recurve = more about form and execution.

That is where your wrong. I'll give you that a recurve is about form and execution but shooting a compound , if your a good shooter, is just as much about those 2 things as a recurve. One of the main things about shooting a recurve is instinct. Its in a sense like sooting a shotgun. You don't generally aim a shotgun you just point and shoot. Same with the recurve.

i have watched this man live at the deer and turkey classic in illinois for 3 straight years. and hes a world famous shooter with a long bow. he has hit a flying lifesavor every year LIVE. my son loves his show. so say what ya want. i know past the BS. byron hits an alamclock beeping and tossed into the air blindfolded every finalle. and shoots ballons backwards looking in a mirror. NO SIGHTS> longbow.

An extremely talented guy, but the successful shot was definitely not his 2nd attempt. It goes to the close up of him, then cuts back to him and he is standing further away from the target. Look for yourself. It obviously took him more than 2 tries, BUT what an incredible shot nonetheless!

He's gap shooting (using the point of the arrow as an aiming guide) so he anchors under his cheekbone, right below his dominant eye. You'll shoot consistently wherever you anchor, as long as you always anchor to the same spot, all other things being equal.

Compounds are for cowards. Almost every compound shooter Ive met complains about their gear, well maybe except my step-dad who teachs me lol. This guy is good though and that was a nice shot.
