  • geez. guys can't take no for an answer

  • Hatsumomo: -Flips over table- (ノ °益°)ノ︵ ┻━┻

  • i would of kick him in the nuts and say freak this geisha crap!!!!!!

  • You would think there would be a little more violence..... that chick has it coming to her

  • Getting fondled by Shang Tsung... Ewwwwwww

  • I wonder if she still smells like fish?? I never understood that line..

  • @sanwamble I believe she calls her that because she is a regular poor girl, if you remember where she came from in the beginning of the movie. A country girl, she calls her.

  • @sanwamble Hatsumomo said that because Chiyo came from a village of fishermen (once again I'm not english native-speaker,forgive me for any misunderstandings)

  • Did he rape her?

  • No. The Baron only looked at Sayuri. He was very interested in bidding for her rmizuage, despite the fact he was Mameha's danna.

  • @crunchytown He was trying to, but she didn't obey and give in because she doesn't understand that, that is role as a geisha.

  • The part with the baron in the book had much more detail

  • I WANT TO KICK THAT BARON WHERE IT HURTS..

  • 15000 yen is £ 122.4770 British Pounds x

  • "Not like a geisha. Like a common prostitute."

    *Hatsumomo flips table over*

    Lawl.

  • just wondering, how much is 15,000 yen at that time?

  • @fubeyotch According to google it is 122.696801. Even if that is not totally correct i think it is still alot of money! xx

  • I don't understand how some women can look so gorgeous, and yet act so nasty.

  • @iluvshia1 Me neither And waste their incredible potential.I believe the explanation lies in deprivation of love.

  • i want to slap that woman, punch that man, kick that lady, gosh everybody is getting so violent O.O

  • I feel so bad for hatsumomo.. She gave her everthing 2 be the best and.. this is just urrgghh.. -.- i wanna slap that bloody old woman .

  • I want to punch that man.

  • TO MUCH LAYERS!!! you would think she would die of all the cloth!

  • the baron is a child molestor... T3T isn't she only a teenager still?!?!

  • the book is sooo good, but the most amazing thing is that it's fiction and a man wrote it!! when i read the book i didnt't read the begining so through out the book i thought it was a real story written by a woman lol

  • @MODERNALASER me too ha

  • I'm crying guys....*sighs* even if he was "just taking a look"...it's humiliating...and to think your big sister thinks you sold yourself....even worse...

I love the book and even the movie skipped some parts, the overall feeling of each character was felt indefinitely!

  • @Kimbelle10 I'm kinda disappointed too that they skipped some parts D; that one part in the book where Hatsumomo goes crazy on the japanese actor and bites him would've been a really good scene :P

  • Hatsumomo is so pretty....even tho she is a bitch.

  • @DeathsXapprentice yeahh deff =D

  • wouldnt it have been just fabulous if she just busted out and did some crouching tiger hidden dragon on the baron's ass? XD lol

  • The deuce, this awesome book had a movie? The hell? D: WHERE HAVE I BEEN. ;A;

  • Hard to believe the girl who played Pumpkin, Youki Kudoh, was 36 at the time. O_O

  • @Angeliclily the Hatsumomo actress is actually older than 40, born 65 or something

  • Being a Geisha is just so ... gosh I can't think of a word for it!! I'm glad that i'm born in this century

  • @HiThisIsTwo

there are still geishas now. my father lives in japan and he once went to a dinner party with geishas. he didnt like it very much, but they certainly still exist

  • man if this was rape...i'd feel bad for him.......mad shit to take off lol

  • He might as well of raped her damn! All agressive and shit!

  • ffffffffffffffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuccccccccccccccccccckkkkkkk why does it abruptly stops at 1:02?

  • Man, after like the 2nd layer of clothes she had on, you would think he would have just given up...

  • @Larryboyfan09 he is the example of one very desperate man

  • loveeee you for putting all this on youtube!

  • he wasnt raping her he wanted to see how she looked befor he bargend for her mizuage.

  • i find it ironic that the baron is actually the grandfather from the johnny kapahala movies..

  • @pandabbles Woah really?! :O I totally didn't realise!!

  • 15,000 yen = $150....hmmmmm I guess that was alot in those days.

  • i sense rape the moment i clicked this

  • "DON'T CRY YOUR FACE WILL RUN"

  • @RustyHeartsWiki Haha, it still made me laugh. XDDD

  • Did she get raped by the baron? I'm confused.

  • @cherry36001

NO he just saw her nakey nakey

  • I would kicked him in the nuts if he had done something like that to me. They should have teached her to defend herself.

  • Stranger Danger! Never goes anywhere with someone you don't know!

  • @unwrittenmariposa09 That is very, very true.

  • Why did the mother Geisha promise the okiya to Pumpkin, not Hatsumono?

  • @hermypotty Because Hatsumomo would then have owned the kimono and the okiya, too, as the heir. The book says Mother quickly realised Hatsumomo would likely have just kicked Mother out and sold the kimono and retired on the money. Also, adopting Hatsumomo would essentially put her in control of the okiya, something Mother didn't want. She made money, sure, but to know she would one day be in charge... yikes.

  • dangg that perv...-.-

  • If I was Sayuri... I would have pulled a Gun on his ass.

  • This gives such an insight to Japanese culture. So many games are played, so little is genuine or pure.

  • Does the book mention how much the Baron's bid was? I've always been curious how much higher his bid was compared to Dr. Crab's.

  • @PaperCesar mameha says it in the movie, mameha had the highest bid ever for 10000

  • ohh that scene even in the book was soo arghhhh, i kept on shouting just fucking kick him in the balls >:(

  • SHANG TSUNG WINS

    FLAWLESS VICTORY

    RAPETALITY

  • @Arrowdance LOL! Good one!

  • oh sayuri...

  • why do they wear so much clothes holy cow. i would have hypothermia and die already >.<

  • ohkay so lets look at it this for a moment:

In the older days these women were unable to do much to protect themselves, this baron guy could've taken her virginity and walked away like nothing happen but in MODERN days if he were to try that shit i bet you the woman would say screw the honorable shit and whoop his ass...hahaha just saying different times here XD

  • JUST PUNCH THE MOTHERFUCKING SHIT IN THE FACE/BALLS

  • @doodooxcd2 BAHA I LOVE THIS COMMENT.

  • Why doesn't she fight? She just says 'stop' over and over.

  • @Kingoftheworld500

Is she fights she propably ruin her name as a geisha or something... But I would rather fight too xp

  • @Kingoftheworld500: You must understand that times were different. Men were at the top of the pecking order and Sayuri was just an apprentice geisha. Even when in the company of only the Baron, she could do little to do to fend him off. Even while on the verge of being raped, she was raised to respect someone as prominent as the Baron no matter what.

  • I dont get it... Why is it bad that Dr. Crab bid the highest? And that Dr. Crab bid higher than Nobu? Can someone explain?

  • @msanimeluver0926 The Baron bid the highest, but since the Baron is Mameha's danna (Patron or in lament term, her sponsors), she let it go to the second highest bidder, Dr Crab. Nobu didn't bid at all, it was against his principle... :o)

  • @lumpangot: In the book, Dr. Crab definitely bid the highest. He was an avid collector of "mizuage" and would pay as much as it took to have it.

  • @Drassielle My comment was based on the movie. If you fast forward to 7:57, you would know why.

  • In the book, the bidding for Sayuri's mizuage started off between Dr.Crab and Nobu. Nobu dopped out when the bidding got expensive and the Baron took over. Dr.Crab was the highest bidder in as a result.

The movie downplayed Nobu's role. The Baron was the highest bid, but Mameha gave it to Dr.Crab instead because of what Hatsumomo did to hurt Sayuri.

  • Sad. Women like Hatsumomo never seem to have bright futures. Or any future at all. They live the fast life but burn out quickly. It always ends tragically for them.

  • to me, the Baron is quite a genius cuz he could manage to take off her kimono, looks like theres a lot of clothes here lol

  • if you would all just read the book, the Baron did NOT rape her, he just looked at her naked. That is all.

  • @tonnhoohnnot Thank god or else her mizuage wouldn't be able to be auctioned off ._.

  • @Kittycat0737 such a great story, you've prob also read it?? only one word to describe it = masterpiece!!

  • @tonnhoohnnot I agree =3 Its a great book! I understood the movie much better after reading the book, since I watched the movie when I was younger so I didn't understand " Okasa " or " Matte-yo! " But tis older now and understands very much lol

  • @Kittycat0737 lol yea, the movie gives better background information and you know exactly who the characters are instead of having to listen to the bad english and guess about who is who :)

  • @tonnhoohnnot she said it that he did not rape her and he didnt he only saw her and touched her. :D and if he really wouldve raped her i wouldve been like (shit she went through all that trouble for nothing.. :/ )

  • @tonnhoohnnot Then jizzed on her naked body.

  • @tonnhoohnnot Because ripping someone's clothes off without her consent is just like, totally fine, dude!

  • @michelletheory thats not what they said. They never said it was fine, they just said he did not rape her. And at the time, especially before her mizuage, it was a big relief that he only looked at her naked

  • @tonnhoohnnot yep he only raped her with his eyes...thats it.

  • Sayuri is not worthless........

  • Ugh what a predator.

  • he should of pissed on her titties instead of raping that motherfucker

  • "After the party Mameha hears what happened and believes that the Baron took Sayuri's virginity, and claims that Sayuri's bids may not come through if she is found to be "worthless." Sayuri cries and tells Mameha that nothing happened and she is not worthless." X3

  • @0Carkki0 he didnt take her virginity, he just looked at her

  • @Jackibars still a violation in its own way though ...

  • From Wikipedia: "Sayuri gets named the lead dancer for the Spring Dances, where she dances wonderfully and catches the attention of bidders, including the Baron (Mameha's danna), who invites Sayuri to his house for a party, gives her a kimono then, as he finds her so beautiful and believes he deserves a look, forcefully strips her"

  • What a persistant, perverted, prick. I'd like to see how he likes being stripped and humiliated and give him the ole 1 2 to show him what for!! He needs to stop taking viagra :P

  • Lmfao shang tsung ^-^ -comment below me-

  • Of course he is going to violate her. He is, after all, the bad guy from Mortal Kombat.

  • And what's more disturbing is she's only 15ish when that was happening

  • Gong li rocks :))

  • yea, he didn't rape her, but still what he did is still horrible.

  • @BBRENTTAGHAPP he actually did..

  • @Chan3lprincess16 No he didn't. Read the book and pay attention to the movie more and you'd realize he didn't.

  • How many layers is she wearing....damn...

  • Sayuri wasnt raped he just looked at her naked.. the Baron was in the betting for her and was actually the winning bid but Mameha couldnt let him win because she loves him.. but like Mameha said to Sayuri he couldnt have raped her because why would he bid so high on something he already had.

  • that was alot of pieces of a material...

  • for those of you wondering... he didn't rape her. he undressed her against her will and looked at her. that's why the mizuage was still able to take place.

  • I don't think she wasn't fully raped, she still has her pants/skirt on, I think the old man only kissed her and then left. I doubt he would rape her and then dress himself and tie the pants back on to her...

  • jumps in the movie...*slaps the old bastard* runs away.

  • She's a hater hahah

  • am sorry but i dont understand what they talking about

    it hard to hear

  • All there is is ball, good and RAPE

  • This part was confusing, she knew the baron would do something, told her to be on guard, but tells the baron to show her the kimono collection, and blames her for what he did?

  • Mameha was upset with Sayuri because she thought she betrayed her. However, she soon realises it was really Hatsumomo that was behind the rumors of her sleeping with other men. She was very desperate to secure her position and get Pumpkin adopted so she can drive her rival out of Gion. Hatsumomo's fears were confirmed when Mother saw how valuable Sayuri is with her earnings from her mizuage( Y11,000 in the book, Y15,000 in the movie) and adopted her.

  • @ladyfire44 I know all about that, just the story seems so stupid at parts. She knew the baron was like that but let her go off on her own and didn't believe her, and knew hatsumomo was up to something but still let it happen

  • Mameha later revealed that she regretted not going with Sayuri because she could've protected her.

  • how did everyone hear about it??? lol

  • @maddy31400 It was probably assumed after seeing her on the floor with her clothes everywhere

  • Comment removed

  • THEY CHANGED IT NOBU DID BID BUT GAVE UP AFTER A LITTLE BIT, AND THE BARON WAS NOT THE HIGHEST BIDDER IT WAS DR.CRAB!!

  • I'll bet it felt good for mother to finally give Hatsumomo what she deserved

  • 5:40-42 LOOK AT HER, STILL A VIRGIN MICHAEL XD

  • @kingshan42 meiko lol i thought that at first too

  • @kingshan42 Maiko

  • lmao he didnt rape her , he just ripped her clothes of so there will be gossip that sayuri keeps sleeping with men, this was hatsumomo's idea , as u can see in part 11 , she was talking all weirdo with him( baren )

  • >:OOO I HATE THE BEGINNING SO MUCH!!

  • the symbolism of the dressing room is profound; it looks like a cage in which, well, she walked into

  • as soon as the doors would have slamed shut behind me, I would have ran around in a small circle screaming that I have the squirts flapping my invisable wings.

  • What a creeper.

  • she's priceless

  • I believe she was just 16, and what a disappointment! To be sold To the highest bidder with no choice in the matter! Yuck'

  • SO THIS IS THE REASON WHY MY COUSIN FAST FORWARDED ALL OF A SUDDEN WHEN I WAS 8!

  • love the way hatsumomo acts in this scene and feel so bad for poor little pumpkin :(

  • a 'present' right

  • don't take candy...or kimonos.. from strangers.

  • @dizzypunchpanda29 ESPECIALLY Kimonos!!!

  • I wish the Chairman would have like ran in looking for her and comforted her when she was lying there.

  • What..a..pig!

  • Why add tons of scenes that did not happen, and get rid of ones that did, most especially when those scenes that were cut were far more important.

  • get naked in front of me, don't be shy.....

  • she tries to explain to her what happened but all mamaha can think about is sell her virginity!!

  • i fill bad for her not only does she go threw this tourcher but she has to deal with mamaha afterwards talk about just plane bad day!!! yes i knwo i spelled names wrong sorry

  • Remember, everyone, that the original novel was written by a WHITE MAN. His interpretation of the geisha is probably quite a bit different than the traditional Japanese perception of the geisha. So don't freak out too much....

  • @willytillyfilly yeah it was written by a white man but the interpretations was from a geisha he interviewed. thats why it says based on a true story. back then they were treated as whores until a certain time they banned ppl from turning them into prostitutes. now today they are treated with respect and valued as people.

  • @willytillyfilly Not really relevant that the author was white, Hatsumomo is just pretty much just an Oiran.

  • @willytillyfilly It may have been written by a white man, but he was told about geishas by a Japanese geisha woman (Mineko Iwasaki) and used her experiences to write the book. She even wanted to sue him for breach of contract because he revealed her identity.

So yeah, this stuff does happen in the geisha world.

  • @willytillyfilly The novel was written by her, herself. It is her story.

  • @Kimmieflygirlie It's by Arthur Golden. It says in the first pages of the book that it is a novel of historical fiction.

  • er.. who wants to lose their virginity to old men??... er haha. O_o

  • that motherfucker..........

  • Just so everyone knows its spelled Hatsumomo. Sayuri is about 15 or 16. And the place mother runs is called an Okiya.

  • @Rebeasta

according to the book i believe she is between 13-16

  • @ 1:01 shang tsung says: "your soul is mine."

  • 15,000.00 JPY = 182.196 USD how much was that back then?

  • This is a bit different from the book.. Both versions are good tho!

  • Disgusting Asshole!. Makes Me Sick...

I Know Its Just Part Of The Act But It Kills Me That There Are Real Men Out There Who Do That Shit. :(

  • @sxcmimanee I sympathize with your rant, but......

Why'd you capitalize every single word in your sentences? O_O

  • Why won't she adopt two?

  • @laiyin99 She can't. By adopting one of them she is labeling that girl as her heir. It would unacceptable and against tradition to do otherwise. Sad, but true.

  • @laiyin99 Because they can only affored one, and the house can only go to one

  • @laiyin99 to add on to what they said, if she adopted pumpkin and her then she would have two heirs and pumpkin being the heir would just be for show it would really just be hotsumomo

  • Sayuri is so nice to Pumpkin, especially when she asked the owner of the Hanamachi to adopt her and Pumpkin.

  • @GirlintheWater I mean the the owner of the Okiya
