Making the argument for the legalization of marijuana should be done on its OWN merit. Not comparing it to other drugs that have a clear track record of destruction. Likewise- doctors can not write a "prescription", again, federally controlled, but can write a "recommendation" which states with medical marijuana laws have agreed to accept. Pharmacies by and large are owned by large corporations not willing to enter into the fray for any number of reasons. This is why Marijuana is not sold in pharmacies, they simply can't.

Making the argument for the legalization of marijuana should be done on its OWN merit. Not comparing it to other drugs that have a clear track record of destruction. And lets face it, the sole purpose of consuming marijuana is to get high. This is not necessarily the case for alcohol. One beer does not a drunk make.

As for your claim that "weed" is completely harmless, there is plenty of evidence that suggests the contrary. Certainly inhaling a hot smoky gas into your lungs is, in no way, beneficial.
Finally, I find the idea of medical marijuana interesting. Why isnt it dispensed in pharmacies? Hmm.

@SeaWolfe59 it is still a schedule 1 narcotic under federal law and can not be legally dispensed under federal law. Likewise- doctors can not write a "prescription", again, federally controlled, but can write a "recommendation" which states with medical marijuana laws have agreed to accept. Pharmacies by and large are owned by large corporations not willing to enter into the fray for any number of reasons. This is why Marijuana is not sold in pharmacies, they simply can't.

With exception of wine, alcohol cannot be considered medicine. Hemp and particularly properly extracted hemp oil as demonstrated by Rick Simpson is the most powerful medicine known to mankind.
