This is not the propper method. You have to cut it like you cut an orange. First you cut the top than you make three incisions than you break it in three parts, this allows you to break it up further as you empty each compartment in a bowl.

you must learn it from me because i am a persian and we are known as pomegranate lovers, anyway your fault is that you must keep the fruit on palm of your hand while you hitting it from back, i mean seeds must comes on your hand while you hit the fruit from back :) you also can juice it simply just take small one and then rubing and pushing using your finger tips till the skin get soft then make small hole through its skin and suck it i will video this :)
