"Johnelectric1", I join you in honoring your mother as the true composer of this song. As a songwriter also and being aware of the rabid theft of created music by labels, publishers and so on in those days especially, I favor establishing whenever possible the true history and creators of songs, especially hits as popular as this.
If you want to email me a picture(s) of your Mom I'll gladly create a video of this song honoring your Mom for you to post [it won't violate any copyright issues].
The Willows was and is the GREATEST!!!!!!!! Joe and Ralph did a wonderful thing by writing Church Bells and all the rest of their other songs.....way to go Joe and Ralph. RIP
My Mom grew up in East Harlem. When she was 16 she won a singing contest, & signed a release for the cash prize for the ballad she wrote & sang. A talented, and inexperienced kid. 4 weeks later a faster male version hit. It was this song. The difference is her version started with the bridge "Hello hello again. I had to say this for her. I'm John Fazzalari & my Mom's name was then Rosemarie Ricco from 115th St.& Pleasant Ave. She's not in the Hall Of Fame, but she's in mine. Thank my Mom.
this is great...Tony Middleton was as good or better on PBS show.. Tony was much older BUT GREAT! TOO bad they had that baffoon with them doing his james Brown dance trying to steal the show...TOO bad Tony passed...but he was great!..
Tony has not passed. In fact he sings as a jazz soloist at least twice a week at Destino at 50th & 1st Ave. Manhattan.....Tuesdays & Thursdays. Come by & see me.
