I don't think our purpose to be born is to just run away from here as fast as we can. I don't see God as a refuge, a back door, an escape hatch - something we use to run away from societal problems. The way i see it, the earth will be a heaven or hell based on our efforts & we must take Responsibility for our actions.

@ramaraksha01 Thanks. I don't think we must earn God's grace. Rather, we must accept it. If we have anything to prove, it's to ourselves. God IS a refuge, and there is nothing irresponsible about escaping, when you are wrongly imprisoned by your own self-limiting (and God-limiting) thinking. Freeing ourselves and serving society are one and the same. We needn't "take responsibility", because we are already responsible, or answerable, like it or not. But we must act without attachment.

@Factszz I think the "return" bit can be seen figuratively as manifestation of the Christ Consciousness...not that he shows back up in person. When we recognize the divine spark inside ourselves and everyone else, the spirit of his teachings will become manifest. Once we recognize ourselves in others and them in ourselves, suffering of one will truly be suffering of all and will simply be unacceptable. We won't be able to not help our fellow man. In fact, there's nothing we can do to earn God's love, because God love is free and is always being offered to us. We don't have to climb mountains to reach it, because it is in the very air we breathe. All we need to do is let it in. Or not. It's entirely up to us.

When you see posts by wwxxx & their ilk, I feel so glad that I am a Hindu. My faith teaches me to respect all faiths as well as the non-faithful. We condemn no one. God Rama embraces ALL GOOD SOULS. Other religions teach hate, their god divides people, not unite them. We go to the Temple to Worship, they go to their places of "worship" to learn to hate. Hindus, please do not respond to such posts with hate, then we will be reduced to their gutter level.

Hell is a vile, abusive, disgusting concept. God buys love & loyalty with torture? A Gandhi, Teresa, Mandela would never think of torturing their enemies, whereas a Saddam, Hitler, Stalin would. This is the company that God keeps? Karma & Rebirth is the better, non-violent way. You are not punished, nor are you simply forgiven because you groveled enough. The most important aspect of Karma is that you are held accountable for your actions, you are reborn, given another chance to make amends.

crap guys, Bilble clearly says, Jesus was given 2 punishments. Even b4 crucification he was beaten to death ....so his cricification time is less
