Dang, 6.8 billion and counting!!! The US has an arms budget bigger than the next 9 countries combined. Also, aircraft carriers as an offensive weapon are obsolete. Just do a wiki on the "Millenium Challenge 2002" exercise held to showcase US naval technology. In a stunning upset the opposing side, lead by General Paul K. Van Riper, sank the US fleet and rained on their parade. The US top brass then demanded a rule change in the middle of the exercise. Also google "You Sank my Carrier"
It is not the government's job to feed the people, it is the people's job. If you want to go live in a collectivist state where all your "needs" are met, go live in North Korea and shut up. But tell me how the boiled tree bark and dirt tastes first.

The govenrment does have welfare precisly for that reason and americans losing there houses isnt the governments fault its the banks lending money to poor people. Have you not been listening to how much money the government is spending to bail out the banks to help people keep there houses? Not to mention the thousands of jobs the government created to built the carrier, you are lucky to live in a country with the world strongest army

Starving? We've created a system were even poor people can become obese. Not much "starving" happening in the United States.
As for our new carrier...fine alright, let's just leave our country unprotected. Does that sound fine to you?
Anyways, congratulations to the US Navy for their final Nimitz-class Carrier, hopefully production on the Ford-class can start very soon.
