We as a nation are no different than alcoholics, we are drunk and stubborn in our ways. We think we know what's right, but in reality our perception is still that of a drunk half of the time. Sometime to break that addiction, you have to listen to friends and loved ones, who truly do want whats best for you. Bill Maher is basically a liberal with some libertarian leanings. So he agrees with Ron Paul's anti-empire bring-the-troops-home message. But, like most liberals, Maher is quite clueless on issues of economics. And this country is going broke. All the GOP except for Ron Paul are essentially interchangeable neoconservatives who aren't going to seriously cut spending.

Well...How can somebody be libertarian and vote to sustain (at least not decrease) taxes? It's a logical contradiction. Higher taxes mean less liberty. It's a starting point, a prerequisite. Did it ever occur to anyone that the problem isn't not enough taxes, that the problem is WAAAAY too much spending? The average middle class American, after it's all said and done, pays about 45-55% of their income to taxes in one way or another. Is that not ridiculous enough? We were never intended to give half of everything we earn to government!

Actually Bill Maher is not wrong on this. Cutting taxes have NEVER proven to work. Economy was great under Bill Clinton, taxes were increased 22.5 million jobs, 90% tax rate under Eisenhower, booming economy, JFK had New Frontier and didn't cut taxes. His tax proposal didn't go through until after he died. But his New Frontier went through when president, booming economy. FDR created jobs and helped us get out of the great depression
Less taxes never worked and every time taxes were lowered or there were massive tax cuts, there was also tax hikes and tax increases and higher taxes, etc to make up for lost revenue. We do have a spending problem but we also have a tax problem. We are spending on unnecessary things that are damaging our economy, like corporate welfare, militarism and then losing revenues on other portions of the economy and country.

There is, in fact, well-documented evidence that Congressman Paul was inducted into a Masonic fraternity in college. Ron Paul's father was a Freemason and Dr. Paul has said himself many times that he respects the organization and has been to many of the open meetings in his district. Well...How can somebody be libertarian and vote to sustain (at least not decrease) taxes? It's a logical contradiction. Higher taxes mean less liberty. It's a starting point, a prerequisite. Then we walk along and separate the weed from the chaff. That's the actual process when Romney, Santorum Gingrich fall off rather sooner than letter. And then, at the finish line, we are being greeted by Ron Paul himself who already has been waiting for us.

At one point during the Iowa voting CNN showed a chart of how much campaign funding each contender had received from Wall Street and associated companies. The implication being that this legally donated but illegally acquired cash was somehow indicative of each candidates probable success. Mitt Romney's campaign receipts were off the chart, at least double that of any other candidate. Ron Paul came in last with almost nothing. This ought to tell America something.

Doubter’s I talk to always quote the MSM and never seem to have seen his speeches and interviews. I am a fan of Ron Paul and Bill Maher. dont agree with everything either have to say. I think a flat tax would fix alot of things. Ship off people that dont love this country. limit terms for every office,cap any government salary to 75k a year and cut spending. Im sure that will fix most problems.

Does anyone really care what a non funny comedian thinks? if he cant even make you laugh (his job) why would you listen to anything he says that isnt even close to his specialty. @Evster81 True. I bet he disagrees with a majority of the things Ron Paul says. But I do think he would vote for Ron Paul. 1. He is the most reasonable, non corporate tool in the race. 2. His foreign policy is spot on and 3. He is against the establishment. Ron Paul has a lot of libertarian ideas but some of those ideas also match up with the progressives.

Romney does not have the debating skills that Ron Paul has to bring down Obama. Do the research, make the right choice. Ron Paul will surround himself with the right team once elected. @jac1318 well, i have the feeling that Obama suffered heavy obstructionism, and even if i agree with Ron Paul on non interventionism i have to say that if it wasn't for american intervention in WW2 my country would still be under fascist rule, and according to my teacher of moral philosophy (who is a gay liberal) a just war can be fought, it all depends on how you fight and why you fight, the fact that the last wars were fought only because of economic interests

@jac1318 doesn't mean that sometimes intervene is the right thing to do. . but of course the use of diplomacy and other means of pressure other than bombing could do work better, anyway, is Ron Paul's miniarchism is what i don't like, i think this economic crisis showed that the capitalistic system can't regulate itself, and governments should give it some rules to prevent similar messes.

@GetitUnderCool well explaining ron paul's economic policy would require a dive into american histroy... our economy hasnt regulated itself since the creation of the fed.... the real reason the economy collapsed wasnt due to the government NOT intervening but was actually directly caused by faulty government policeis and the federal reserve.... ron paul advocates a free market where the government stays completely out of it... no subsidies and no bail outs

@GetitUnderCool but when i talk about non-interventionalism what i mean, and ron paul from what i get out of his speeches, wants to stop sending out foreign aid and meddling in other governments.... for instance 9/11 was caused by our middle eastern policies dating back to the 1950's when we overthrew the iranian government.... we gave people very good reason to dislike us and didnt stop meddling until they eventually got so pissed they attacked us.... and we still havent stopped

Bill Maher isn't totally wrong, but he's wrong about cutting taxes being a bad idea.
Did it ever occur to anyone that the problem isn't not enough taxes, that the problem is WAAAAY too much spending? The average middle class American, after it's all said and done, pays about 45-55% of their income to taxes in one way or another. Is that not ridiculous enough? We were never intended to give half of everything we earn to government!
Cut spending, cut taxes. It works.

No, the solution is not to shift the burden onto someone else, the solution is to eliminate the burden.
Our country has a MAJOR, MAJOR problem with OVERSPENDING. The solution to spending too much money is to spend less, not to take in more. A 100% tax on the top 1% of Americans would not eliminate our debt!!

Actually Bill Maher is not wrong on this. Cutting taxes have NEVER proven to work. Economy was great under Bill Clinton, taxes were increased 22.5 million jobs, 90% tax rate under Eisenhower, booming economy, JFK had New Frontier and didn't cut taxes. His tax proposal didn't go through until after he died. But his New Frontier went through when president, booming economy. FDR created jobs and helped us get out of the great depression

Less taxes never worked and every time taxes were lowered or there were massive tax cuts, there was also tax hikes and tax increases and higher taxes, etc to make up for lost revenue. We do have a spending problem but we also have a tax problem. We are spending on unnecessary things that are damaging our economy, like corporate welfare, militarism and then losing revenues on other portions of the economy and country.

We have a SERIOUS problem with overspending. Our government is worse than a compulsive gambler! We have a horrible disease known as spending. The federal government has NO control of its wallet, and overspends constantly.
