my father grew up Jejova Witness and when he started asking questions he was brought up to the elders first with a warning then one of his family members told on him again after he was disfellowshiped myself being from my father s second marriage i did not grow up in that faith but i was excluded because i was not JWs i did my research i beleive they really do brainwash and break up families only because of personal experience

well i remembering reading 10 yrs ago that the IRS,FBI,CIB etc etc have investigated them and 700 odd other so called non-profit organisations and the witnesses were the ONLY one that were actually non-profit..everything goes back into the organisation..im not a witness never have been.did bible studies as 8-9 yr old but mom pulled us out but ive never bagged them for their beliefs they make more sense than other so called christian organisations and basically only 1 use jehovah

The Watchtower society is a legal corporation - thus subject to the usual government audits. If there were any financial scandal you'd read about it in the New York Times.

Cont. According to the book of acts, ALL monies that are put into the "pot" should be distrubuted to "the poor", or of ones in need for food, shelter, ect. The JW "pot", or the Brooklyn, NY main Headquarters do not do this with the MILLIONS that are poured into the "pot". Even thoughmy mother has a £250.000 home, she is poor and depends on the Government funds to live on. This is not right, as she should get somthing for the JW "pot".! And in the end, she will be giving them the £250,000!

@thepixieful Well, there is not much I can do- only to warn her of what she is doing. In the end, its up to her what she wants to do with her home when she passes, and it would not be good to tell her what she should do with her property as she has worked hard for it. I am sure that we would not like for someone else telling us what to do with our things! In the end, BOTH the WT society (according to scripture) AND whatever money they have will be destroyed by Jesus or Yeshua!

Cont. But they have other ways of maintaing to get money from loyal JWs. My own mother is leaving her £250,000 house to them when she passes. There are now over 7 million JWs living today- well. you do the maths! It is often said, that the volenteers a Brooklyn Bethal do not get much while working there, and when they leave they do not get anything -leaving some of them in a poor position. Whereas, the GB get to live, and I quote, "live like KINGS" having a home, car and funds when they leave!

They work on a donation basis only and in most cases, people opt not to donate but still take the literature. It hardly sounds like a golden opportunity to me. And also, I have attended their meetings and once a month, everyone is informed regarding budget, expenditures and the congregations account information. Claims like this or other pyramid schemes are bogus in my opinion.

@ProfessorKA0S The information given out heard in one congregation is SOLEY to do with that congregations own personal bank account, expenses to do with electric, water rates, even the upkeep of the hall. JWs do not get to hear much on the expenses that the Brooklyn Bethal, main headquarters of JWs in America, deals with. No JW actually knows what the members of the Governing Body has each- with their cars and hotel bills, plane trips, ect each get. The public, including JWs should know!

@ProfessorKA0S I remember that we place one magazine asking for 10 pence to cover "paper and printing". But, because of the American laws that clammed down on selling items to others, these magazines, books were NOT taxed. So, to escape from the tax system, within a three day period each congregation around the world got a letter from the GB asking each Jw not to ask for money anymore, but to say that the magazines are on a contrubation basis- leaving the people to choose to give money or not!

@animebrawler The "Volunteers" at Bethel might receive room and board, but they don't receive health care or retirement, and what do you think the GB does when somebody gets too old and frail to work anymore. I'll tell you what they do, they kick them out onto the streets with no retirement or health care, and since they haven't been making any real income, they have no savings to survive on, and if they've forfitted having children, they won't have any family to take care of them.

When Brothers and Sisters were being raped and burned and murdered in malowie nothing was sent to them because they have the hope of the resurection, but when Watchtower elders and overseeres were about to face trial for child molestation, the Watchtower forked out hundreds of millions of dollars to settle out of court.

Thirty years ago, when I was a JW. We would have to purchase our WT & Awake mags for door to door & ofcouse our personal use....we might get back from the protentual householder the cost of the mags.......then, the zealous JW's would take what they received from door to door, and place that in the donation box....The WTBTS inturn received almost double for the mags.....imagine if all the JW's did this?

But instead that it brings me assurance that everything is oke, i only found things that bothers me :(

So yes i did my research, and still doing it. But there are a lot of questions still unanswered.

Study people. Traveling Servants. Speakers from New York, Missionaries.

Members of the Governing Body. Where's the adulation cult leaders receive? Where's the opulent living? The "special class" treatment? Look deeper into the structure of the Congregation. Look at the work that is being done. Look at the Yearbooks, at the $ spent in supporting the work. Unfortunately, and it's no secret, there's been money paid to families where sexual abuses has been discovered. This problem is ubiquitous.

Just because they have paid out cash to plaintiff's doesn't mean the WTBS is corrupt or that this is not the truth. There are very bad people living double lives right in our midst. Just be glad these child abusers are caught and dealt with properly today.
