This filter really works and can be manufactured anywhere in the world out of common materials. The Honduras manufacturer is a Rotary sponsored micro business and run by Maximo Andreus near Tegucigalpa.

Who is going to tell the young child standing in the river not to use the potable water reservoir (green bucket supplied with the system) to get polluted river water to the filter? What if the ceramic filter breaks?

A major part of the project is education at community meetings about contaminating the filter cartridge and the receptacle pail. This training is done by our clinic staff.

Breakage: To lesson the amount of breakage the manufacturer has reconfigured the filter cartridge for us. The new filter cartridge is very durable. We carry in extra cartridges to replace those that do get broken. Replacement filters cost $7.50 (US) each if you would like to help.

Where do we go to buy the cloth?

The villagers use "T" shirt, towel, any sort of cloth that they might have. There is always something available - often rags to us, clothing to them.

This is great what you have done..I stumbled onto this video while looking for a way to make a homemade filter to remove fluoride from the drinking water here in the US.

Why are you interested in removing fluoride? You're aware of the benefits of fluoridated water right?

Good luck removing fluoride with a clay pot and some silver.

Enjoyed the video though! I think slow-sand/"bio-sand" filters would be more effective though. They're simple to construct and the materials are readily available. Something that could easily be duplicated by locals.

Now this is the type of video that would make me want to help out a cause for charitable giving. The donations would go to the people, and not some rich folks sitting in an air conditioned office.
