I am uncertain how this still exists in society, but reading these comments I see it does. I do not know why so few of you have been taught that in fiction, wrestling, the message is the only thing that can be truly racist. A character, Col. Debeers, is only a portion of a story. In this case, the character is the antagonist and is portrayed negatively to display his message as false and wicked. There is nothing wrong with a character being evil, nor with fiction touching uncomfortable subjects.

this is what wrestling is missing today. i remember watchin colonel debeers wrestle when i was a kid and he was the ultimate heel, he use to give nightmares. Wrestling needs to get rid of these hollywood t.v. writers and make the action in the ring tell the story. Back then you would have a 1 hour program with like a solid 45 min of wrestling action 10 min of promos and intervies ad 5 min of commercials. now you got 2 hours of programming with 40 min (if your lucky) of wrestling action

DeBeers was a great talker and you could buy into his gimmick. Getting racial heat has always been a part of wrestling.
