and they say mini vans suck cuz they dont go fast.... well, its not suppose, to its safe for the family. Gosh... teenagers these days.. '' thats what my dad said ''
its actually the same van, different badging....there is no difference in safety ratings. look it up. chrysler town & country = dodge grand caravan. just like ford crown victoria = mercury grand marquis, etc.
its actually just a weight sensor in the seat, nothing "intelligent" about it, and its just another thing that can go wrong that can alter air bag performance in my opinion. what if that deployed air bag prevented shardes of glass, among other things, from being projected at your head, regaurdless of a passenger in the seat or not :-)
In 2007 was the frist time something messsed up under the hood, the other problems was just 2 dead batterys. That was fixed and haven't had anneything else wrong with it.
@ande947 actually the kia and hyundai minivan is the safest the got all 5 stars in all crash test rating by iihs and EuroNCAP and even 2006 kia and hyundai mini vans did better then this one and alot of other minivan from 2008
Chevy Uplander did better than this minivan in the FRONTAL IMPACT CRASH TEST but it doesnt look like it because chevy actually knows how to put crumple zones on their car and as far as side impact this car beats GM minivans hand down but only because this car has the side curtain and i personally dont like honda odyssey but honda did do better than GM and CHRYSLER/DODGE
There are no recalls for the Journey. Every car from the 1990s and before were unsafe no matter how much the automaker did to make it safe. With the exception of the Mercedes and BMW and some other automakers.
Well that makes the viper exclusive making it rare. And when the viper does go out of production, it will be a future classic. And I don't wish Chrysler was as rich as GM or else they would use the same cheap components found in a van in one of their sports cars, like the corvette.

@BatmanbinSuperman12 Ever drive one. Or put 3200 miles on one on a two week vacation? The best $22,000 car you can buy for that.

It's awesome in the snow. Four wheel drive is pointless with this kind of traction. I live in Minnesota and have a 60 mile commute to work.

The town and country actually has a higher rating and is better than the grand caravan. Thats why we got the town and country.
darkalyn 2 years ago
they are the same thing, how?
kylevk 2 years ago
maybe you saw the NHTSA ( a less severe crash test) results as the T&C wasn't tested by the IIHS

They are exactly the same, except for some trim.

@pef286 thats so sad. 11k miles is nothing. our infiniti FX has 75k miles on it from 2007 and 0 problems. Just routine maintenance.

also the Honda Odyssey did better than the Uplander in both Frontal and Side Impacts
firedemon101 3 years ago
@ande947 the uplander is the worst, gm does not do a good job with minivans
Moparman58 1 year ago
MUCH BETTER THAN CHEVY UPLANDER.. no comparison in the side impact test either. Thats why GM had to stop production, They cannot make minivans.

honda odyssey did better in this test (gm minivans is going to say something..)

Why is it bad? That means it will be worth more than the Corvette once it goes out of production.

Dodge/Chrysler have finally made a sure MPV.
But frenchs MPVs have reached this level of security since 2003 !(Peugeot 807 & Renault Espace).
